Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that Hypo-Thyroid desease is frequently a part of Fibromyalgia. It causes fatigue, weight gain, hair thinning, brittle nails, moodiness and depression. My Dr always checks for thyroid desease first when treating for Fibro. It is easily detected with a blood test and treated with thyroid hormone replacement (a small pill you take once a day). Also when you go in to be checked make sure they do the long test to check for Hashimotos (an ensyme some people produce that when not detected can give you a false reading in the lower normal range when actually need replacement). Treatment can relieve some of the symptoms of Fibro.

Hope this helps

Heya there.

Just a question about the thyroid pill you take, does it help attack weight gain problems at all? For me it's a definite problem lately and I'm always looking out for whatever can help. I've also been told that I may have problems with thyroid and am setting up to go to an endocrinologist.

Thanks.

Hi,

in answer to your question about weight. If you have low thyroid function this will cause you to gain weight. Once you are on thyroid replacement the weight gain should stop. It takes a while to start loosing but you will gradually start loosing.

Hope this helps
