MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

This is sort of a quick poll. Do any of you have "almost" pain free days? I am not talking about days when there is not pain, but days when you can pretty much function like a normal person and not worry?

How often do you have these days on average.. once a week, month, year?

If so do you ever have more than one in a row?

Peetred, first of all, welcome to the group! I find that when my pain meds are in line and the weather isn't wreaking its havoc, I have several days in a row where I can function fairly normally. Keep in mind, I don't work outside of the house anymore so I am in control of my schedule. I am still learning how to pace myself to not do too much or too little. Sometimes I can get two or three days of feeling kinda normal (with managed pain) but then I have a day or so where I need more rest.

I hope this helps. Feel free to keep asking questions. We are here for you. You can also send me a PM if you have other questions.

Yes! My whole world changed about 3 years ago when I went on a low carb diet. MANY of my fms symptoms just went away. I have had fms for 20 years. And it has just been the last 3 that I'm functioning pretty well.

Have some serious foot pain going on but other than that, a lot of my pain is just gone. Absolutely a miracle.

And I've fallen off the low carb wagon and gotten to be a fat pig. A few of my symptoms have returned. I know I have to get back on it again.

And I didn't do the Atkins. TOOOOOO low/no carb. I was more like the South Beach but didn't do it exactly either.

But yes, you can have several days in a row.

Oh My Gosh that low carb diet almost starved me to death. they gave me a list of what not to eat I came home and I swear I would of had to throw out everything in my cabinets and fridge if I followed it. but I did for about a week and I never was so hungry all the time in my life. I would cry and tell my husband "I just want food, give me some pasta, and a cupcake" I swear I was just starving Never again with the low carb thing I was miserable.. food is all I have lol

But....that may be the reason my good days are very short lived... I haven't had a good day in about a month so I am sure I am due pretty soon : (

Last summer I went almost a whole month and thought my fibro was just imaginary I was so excited but I woke up one day in so much pain my dream of being misdiagnosed was over.

You know, I don't like meat. I don't have any kind of moral objection to it or anything. I just don't like the taste or the texture. But I ate meat. I ate chicken. I didn't eat fish. I dropped way down on the potatoes and pasta and ice cream.

My very worst time of day is 3-5 PM. I am starving to death at that time no matter WHAT I eat for lunch. The low carb thing told me to eat a handful of peanuts. It was AMAZING how much one handful of peanuts helped me.

But when I fell off the wagon....I landed face down in the mud and the wagon ran over me. I am just a mess again right now and I weigh more than I ever did in my life. I'm so disgusted with myself.

You shouldn't be disgusted with yourself you were just hungry.

I love meat though Like Monday at work all I wanted was like a Christmas ham it sounded really good. I never got it but I wanted it. I could possibly turn caveman if I had to. LOL But breads I can't give up. Its the one thing I can eat that I know isnt going to hurt my belly. And the fruits they want you to eat aren't even the good ones. I like oranges, watermelon and bananas. Which ones werent on my list to eat ...the ones I like. The fruits on the list were ones I never heard of or cant stand. It's a mean and cruel diet noone could actually ever follow and be satisfied.

It seems like almost every day I have some level of pain- more mild to moderate, but the fatigue I experience everyday is, well...exhausting! lol. The fatigue is my main struggle with all of this. I also find myself forgetting about my really bad days when I have a fairly good few days or week (which is good), but then I allow myself to go into a state of denial about having this. But then I can wake up the next a.m. with a whole menagerie of aches and pains that are so severe I just want to break out the heavy duty pain killers and go to bed. I haven't really kept a pain diary so I haven't found a pattern with my symptoms yet. It just varies so much.
