The doctor called an RX for the titration pack into the pharmacy for me--I will try in a few days as I have a lot going on through Monday and I don't want to feel ill. She did give me a plan to wean off the Lyrica concurrently with taking the Savella. Will post next week to give an update (if I get brave enough to try this stuff.....)

I am the first patient of my Drs to take it and I started it yesterday. I am very hopeful.

I am actually looking forward to having my appitite suppressed...LOL the Lyrica was crazy! I was hungry allllll the time. Not okay for me. So - here's giving the new drug a chance. Smile

I too am my doctor's 1st patient. My pharmacy had to order the starter pack for me. But I have a friend that works for Forest Labs and he helped me get all the info I needed to give to my doctor so she could prescribe it. She was a little nervous after the hives that I got from Cymbalta. But so far, so good. And I am liking the appetite suppression aspect of it. All the other meds have made me eat too much.

Hey Suzi, I was just read your post about being in the trial studies for Savella. The increased heart rate and chest pain that you have now are still after effects from being on the Savella? How long were you on it? I was one of the first people in the group along with Bo who started taking it but we both stopped early. I had terrible side effects and it actually made my pain worse. That is really scary if you are now having heart problems when you didn't before due to the Savella. I want to make sure I was reading your post correctly.

I was in the study from Dec 06 to April 08. I still do not know if from Dec 06 to Oct 07 if I had the real medication or the placebo but after that I was on the real thing, at the max dose allowed, but either way I did not have any pain relief at all the whole time. I did not have any issues with my heart before taking the medication, but I do have a family history of heart issues, my dad has had a heart attack. So maybe the drug just brought my issues to the surface sooner, but I do not know. But I still have yet to bring my heart rate down to normal. And still have some chest pains.

That is scary. Can't they tell if it was due to the Savella or something else? Where you having these problems while on the Savella? Did you have any side effects?

The cardiologist does not know why my heart rate will not go down. In 2 week when i go back to see him he might have to increase my doseage of the medications I am on. The issue with my chest pains is cause by small vessal disease, which was brought on by the high heart rate. But like I said I also have a family history of heart issues and I am also a Type 2 diabetic. They think that whatever happened, the drug might have started everything early for me.

Lisa

They can't tell what caused it. I did not start having the problem with my heart until I started on the actual drug and the only other side effects I had was the severe constipation, but thinking about it I also had the dry mouth as well. I did not lose any weight at all on the medication.

during the study they did multiple ekg's, and never saw a problem until I started on the actual drug, so that makes up think that I was on a placebo for the first part of it.
