I started taking Savella on 5/6, the 3rd FDA approved drug for fm. The side effects are bad but I am starting to notice a little difference. Some of the side effects I am experiencing are nausea, stomach pain, severe decrease in appetite, blurred vision and sensitive to light and insomnia.

I can really use a friend to chat w/ about this new experience. I have exhausted the use of lyrica, cymbalta, and almost every narcotic. Savella is my last course of action according to doctors. But we all know doctors don't know everything!!!

First of all Hello to you and Welcome to the group.

I haven't met you yet. So I'm glad your here.

Second, there are others that are taking this new drug Savella. Look through the posts or type in the search field up top. And see what comes up. I can't help you with it, because I'm not taking it.

Good luck with this honey, I really feel for you.

Hi Alisha! Nice to meet you too. I can't help you either because I am not taking it. Like Fesup said, do a search on it. I believe there are a few ladies taking it and they will post after a few weeks to let us know how they are doing. I wish you the best of luck darlin'!

Alisha, it's always good to hear from you. BelaBo started it a few days ago. Lisaandboo started it, but already had to stop due to the side effects.

We have a few other people trying it, too. I put a call into my doctor today to hopefully get a script.

So you think you can power through the side effects? I'm guarded but hopeful. I surely hope it works for you, though!

Optimistic hugs, Tina

I just started Savella tonight. I'll have to wait and see if I experience any side effects.
Gentle Hugs,

Autumn! I'm glad you got it. I put a call into my dr, but I didn't hear back from him today.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Alisha, and everyone else trying it Smile

I haven't asked my doctor yet. I'm sure he's never heard of it and it isn't in his PDR yet. If my pharmacist has it in, I'll ask for the drug print out and take it with me next time I visit the MD.

Good luck to everyone taking it!

Hey ladies. Why don't you continue this conversation in the thread that Bo started? This way all the info and convos on Savella will be in one place.

It's ok, Lisa. It just works out this way. Same way we've got probably a dozen threads on lyrica.

Hi All. Today is a little better. I started off at 12.5 mg 1x a day. I am currently taking 25mg of Savella 2x per day.I am working up to 50mg 2x per day.

I am trying to power through the side effects because I can see that itit is helping. I will say that when I first started it the pain/ pain free feeling was inconsistent. As I have increased the dosage the decrease in pain is more consistant. It is hard though, I will say. I had to go to the ER on Saturday because I had 124 heart beats per minute. Another side effect of Savella is heart palpitations and high blood pressure. The doctor said I can continue taking the med. Honestly, because the med is working I can deal w/ the heart palpitations. I have just been taking a lot of hot relaxing baths!!

My rheumo really tried to sway me from taking Savella because of the side effects. I am her first patient on the drug so she says I am her "test case" . I will also say that it took 24hrs for my pharmacy to get the med. At the time it did not come in 12.5 mg tablets so I had to get the 50mg tablets and cut them up. Its cool because in 3 more days I will be on 50 mg 2x a day so I won't have to use my pill cutter anymore. I am also happy to say that you will lose weight not gain weight on this drug!!! I have lost 11 lbs! It is sad because I have absolutely no appetite and I have to force myself to eat.

Gentle Hugs
