I just went for my 3rd adjustment this morning and I'm hurting so bad everywhere. Has this happened to anyone that they possibly got worse from it? Has it helped for anyone that I should stick with it and see what happens?

Esty, I'm sorry you're in so much pain, honey. I've never had nerve enough to go to a chiro because I hear so many horror stories.

That said, we do have a lot of members who go and I don't think they end up worse for the wear.

Maybe the one you're seeing isn't very good, or isn't familiar with fibro?

Did the first two treatments hurt you, too? My rheumy told me that anyone working on a fibro patient, if they don't know what they're doing, can do more harm than good.

Spinal hugs, Tina

I have visited many chiropractors in the past and never had more pain the when I walked in to their office. It must be that now with Fibro it making the pain worst. I have read here before that the chiropractors must know how to adjust us. GOOD to know. Thanks for the reminder.

hello esty nice to meet you. your chiro should not be doing any adjusting at all from what i have learned by my visits to my chiro he doesnt do that to his fribo patients. so far all i have had to do there is lay on a table with a weighted machine (started very light and am now up to a big girl 76 lbs.) stretching me and some little massaging pads on a very light setting because they irritate me if they are set up too high. but the chiro i see has the advantage of having a father and sister with fibro and he is showing tendencies himself. although he is obviously not an md he educated himself on fibro and has treated enough to have learned the knowledge to teach and lecture about fibro although that has been put on hold due to he and wife are expecting child #3. anyway from teh first day i told him he could not hurt me and he hasnt. he didnt even push on my tender points as hard as he could have and stopped because as he put it "im not going to torture you anymore becuase i understand you hurt". he also encourages you to follow up with primary and any needed specialists though here in orlando it has been hard to come by. okay sorry for the long winded but i thought it best to tell you that your chiro should not be doing things like that to you. take care.

Esty, I saw a chiro 15 years ago and my pain was worse than when I went to him.

I went to one 1 1/2 years ago (and still go) and he was WONDERFUL!!! I didn't hurt at all from the adjustment, only from him touching me but I could live with that.

I now know that there are good ones and bad ones. I think you need to shop around and maybe get some good references. I use the chiro that works the school for scoliosis and the school nurse gave him rave reviews.

Good luck!

Esty, if you are coming out of the chiro's office hurting, then he isn't doing it right. My Chiro won't let you out of his office unless you are pain free. If I was you, I'd find a new chiro.

Mine does the deep muscle massage before he does any adjustments to get the muscles relaxed. Once the muscles are relaxed, he can do the adjustment much easier.
