Probably not what you want to hear but I have alot of fibro friends (not from this site - I don't have any friends here wrong tootpaste or something) but anyway, friends outside of this site that have fibro, also have hypolycemia. It is not uncommon at all to have both. I'm not a dr, but I would recommend you have your TSH for your thyroid done. I've had hypoglycemia for years. And it looked like it would stay that way, but after they nuked and destroyed my thyroid and 8 tumors off of it 4 years ago I began to have more trouble with low blood sugar (easier to spell ) Sadly, just a few weeks ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. We are hoping that it was medicine induced (Repuip). Am coming off of the Requip, so sure hope the high blood sugar goes away and the low comes back. But, in all this mumble jumble, yes I and a lot of fibro friends have low blood sugar.

I also have hypoglycemia, have for years. The symptoms would be dizziness, cold sweats, feeling sick and queasy, lightheadedness, etc when your blood sugar is low. If these symptoms go away soon after you eat something with carbs or sugar this is probably what it is. Just remember that in order for your blood sugar to be stable you must have protein along with whatever you are eating to keep your blood sugar up. Protein is what stabilizes your blood sugar. Try to snack on things like Chicken, meats, nuts, dairy products, etc. Also try to eat carbs/sugars that break down slower in your body such as whole wheats and whole grains. Natural sugars are better than added sugars, so it's better to snack on fresh fruit, etc than other sugary snacks.

And basically, depending on the severity of your hypoglycemia, you should generally avoid too much sugar and follow a diet similar to a diabetic.

Thanks for the reply. I just bought a book on Fibro, because this is all so new to me. And low and behold there is a whole unit on hypoglycemia and how common it is. It talks a lot about proper diet. Have a good day.

I had the same thing and I had it for years...but after I was put on my meds cymbalta and lyrica..I don't know which did it but I don't have it any more....I also so eat sugar anymore and I use agave necture to sweeten my stuff and it has a low glycemic index....you get it at the health food stores.
