Wow, first time I heard of this. I'm surprised I didn't hear about it on the news or newspaper.

Although, I could have missed it unless it jumped right off the page & in front of me. I'm still trying to read Monday's paper

This is not a definitive test for fibromyalgia. It identifies some people who have fibromyalgia, at most 50%, but many normal people also have higher APA levels. Most rheumatologists in this country do not yet recognize this as a diagnostic tool for this reason. Most of the recent research studies do not show a correlation between APA levels and fibro. I believe that the company who markets this test is trying to make a buck off of us...and I doubt that SS is going to accept this test as proof of fibromyalgia.

here is one such study I found online....

http://www.springerlink.com/content/381537803x44187u/

from the Journal of Rheumatology.

"The prevalence of seropositivity and the level of APA in FM patients did not differ from those in RA patients and controls. The proportion positive for APA was not higher for FM patients with severe symptoms than for FM patients with mild symptoms."

According to this web site this test has not reached FDA approval as of yet. How can anyone use this test to Dx Fibro if it is still in clinical trials? unless you are a part of the trial.

Well for all I have read on this I guess........HOW in the HECK can this study be worth any thing...when all they tested were women.................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

I am sorry......... but the pharmacitical companies lobbied to get fibro a disease..... then they came up with a med for it......

NOW they have a test........ wow....seems a little to coincidental...for me.... and then this test only takes in part of the people that have it..... Or is what I have something different....oh yeah maybe they.... will find another disease, that I and then they can come up with another med...... maybe this time they will change more than 2 molecules to obtain it.... Sorry I think this test is junk......

When it only takes in part of the people who have it.......

sounds like they are playing all of us....... in the name of money.....

Women have fibro..... aaaa lets see....men have "Mano"
