it is sooooooo great to finally know that you are not alone. I have had FMS for about 7years and CFS since i was lil' maybe preschool. now, im 19 in college and I have hard time concentrating, focusing, studying, staying alert/awake. Is there anything I can do to make it in college. I am on/off lyrica because it makes me like a zombie but however i have no pain. Also i take flexeril everyday and desryel sometime. Is there any stretches I can do in the morning cuz i have to get up early, walk 20-25 minutes to class, down and up stairs and all of this walking is kiling me. Another thing i cannot never get any sleep and sometime i can get 2 much sleep. I feel very depressed cuz i cry for no apparent reason, and i feel alone. is this normal? Also, any advice any1 can give me to help with this condition. I also read the articles here about fibro fog and twitching. I have those all the time. Sometime, i even forget where I park my car, leave my cell phones, or anything else? Please someone help me.

Oh, Angel, you sound like my twin!!! I am 19 too and have been sick for a loonnnggg time. I've been so sick that I cant actually go away to college and just this week I had to drop all of my classes because my body just cant handle it. I am going through med changes so I cant give many recomendations, but I can say that Cymbalta is fabulous for me. It helps with both pain and the depression. Some people have has some negative effects but you wont know until you try.

You are not alone anymore and I would love to get to know you better. The people on this site are so great and supportive, but it will be awesome to talk to sombody who is my own age. Feel free to pm me and ask me anything. If you want my e-mail or anything like that just ask! You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope things turn around for you soon!

Much love,

soopergirl

Maybe you should switch the lyrica with the neurontin. It costs a lot less because it comes in generic. You need to take more than wih lyrica but I have had no side effects. The lyrica did make me so foggy and my legs swelled up like a balloon. hugs
I have dystonia, neuropathy, gerd, arthritis, and fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel and other ailments. I enjoy embroidery, music, and reading my Bible and Christian books. I love to bake. I try to be very supportive and positive.

Me and neurotin do not get along. I guess it because of the chemical properties and the make-up of the drug. I have also tried other alternatives to medication such as water aerobics and chiropractors (2). I am doing a lil study on myself. I have always been told that the doctors give you the knowledge, but every1 is different so if you experiment on your own with medical directions and care you can learn what's best for you and what you need to do in order to survive. So i am on flexeril, desyrel and lyrica. The flexeril is my muscle relaxer I used it all the time, depend on my pain and how i feel i usually up the dosage becuz you can take 40-60mg. a day of flexril. (those PDR books are very usefull, every1 with Fibro and allergies need 1) and the lyrica when I am in deep pain that the Flexril is not helping with. That way I don't became foggy and swollen like a big fish that came from some unknown pond or river. I take desryel whenever i feel depressed or really cannot sleep. It usually works. The best thing to rememeber do not become dependent on these drugs. The more you do the lesss often your meds will not work nor will they will work against you i a bad way. This just what it does to me how bout any1 else???????????

Hello Angel_in_disguise! Also, I don't think I've welcomed you..so welcome!

Flexirl doesnt work for pain, just for muscle spasms, which can hurt when severe enough. I took that for many years. Desyrl, I believe is Trazodone, I take that nightly 100mgs for sleep as well as depression. Now for the Desryl to work, I believe it needs to be maintained at a certain level in the blood, which would be achieved by taking it on a regular basis. That goes for Lyrica to. I might have misunderstood, were you saying you are taking these meds when you THINK you need them? I just wondered, because I wasn't quite sure if that's what you meant or not??! If so, I would suggest to take them on a regular daily routine in order to get the right affect that's needed. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because I mean no harm and just want to be sure for your benefit it's being taken correctly.

Hope you continue to share. We all have been thru so much and we all benefit from each others knowledge...

I know that I should take them on a regular routine but since my body is so senstive i cannot take it everyday. I used to take Flexeril and Desyrel everyday and I would be high all the time. the medications help but I cannot take them regularly because i am a full time college student taking 12 hrs and I am trying to stay awake and study. I took lyrica 100 mg. for about 7 days straight and i was like a zombie. Speech imparied and coordination was off same as do with the desryrel, flexeril and any other type of pain mediciene I cannot function. Not even if i wanted to. when has enough medication in it. I come back off the medicene a lil. then go slowly go back up when i feel normal again. The last thing i want to do is to be in constant pain or be high (I don't want the police asking me mam' have you been doing any illegal substances) I wish my body could take the higher dosages that would work great miracles for me.

You are in a very difficult situation!! I totally understand....have you thought about breaking the tablets in half and try taking less then the recommended dosage but on a regular basis? Sometimes the doctors prescribe more of the dosage then your body can take. When you hit and miss with some meds they won't reach a proper level in the blood and won't work anyways. Now flexiril can been taken as needed.

It is hard when your trying to function in life, it seems like we can never reach a happy medium, so-to-speak. I hope you can figure it out for yourself.

How much longer will you be in school?

I hope the very best for you. It's very difficult to know what dosage is right for us. The flexiril can be taken as you need, however, I really think the other meds are probably best taken on a regular basis, just maybe a little less dosage, and you may find some of the aggravating side affects will lessen as your body adjusts. However, you have to do what feels best for you, these are just my opinions and my experiences....hopefully, you'll find the right amount for you and the right meds that work. If you have to many side affects, where your finding it's hard for you to function, maybe you can talk to your doctor.

Whatever you decide, I'm hoping for the best for you!!!

Hi Angel,

just noticed your post and wanted to send you all my best wishes. I also wanted to suggest a drug called SKELAXIN. I was given samples from my pain md, so I dont know how much $$$. It is a combo muscle relaxant/ pain pill and it does'nt make you tired or high (at least not me). You can take it regularly but it also works "as needed". I hope this helps and I hope it also helps to know We're all pulling for you.
