djfilippone"Before I found this site I felt so alone.  Watching my daughter struggle with IH and being treated like she had two heads from doctors.    I have plenty of family and friends but there was nobody that really knew what she was going through.
I not only have support and love from others who will listen and share their
story, but I have made some forever friends.  Having this support site does make a difference to many.

so i have a question, i was never aware of fibromyalgia until joining this site while trying to find people that have gone through breast reductions, anyway could it be a possibility that my breast are not the only thing causing my problms? i do know they are a big part of my back pain but even the muscle relaxers that i was prescribed wont touch this pain, here are the things i experience on a daily bases, chronic upper and lower back pain, shoulder and neck pain, my hands tingle and go numb (mostly my left hand) headaches everyday and im always tired, as i sit right now my back feels like its burning and hurts like hell also whenever my husband massages my back there are some areas that feel hes rubbing raw skin (i dont know any other way to describe it, very sensitive to touch. idk, there are so many things that can cause the same pain i guess! just confused thats all!

I think you should get checked for it. You need to rule out other things first. But there is always a possiblity of fibromyalgia. I too get to where my skin just can't be touched. I feel sensitive on the underside of my skin. Like the second layer is rubbed raw.

Good luck..

April, welcome to the group. I'm really happy that you found us and joined.

The symptoms that you describe are certainly all part of fibro. There are many, many more as well.

There is a HUGE percentage of us that have diagnosed back problems along with the fibro. The combination can be quite debilitating.

I would really urge you to see further medical advice. Generally rheumatologists are the ones who diagnose fibro, but that's not always the case.

Fibro is a confusing disease. For patients and doctors alike. That's why it can often take years before getting a correct diagnosis. For me it was 5 years. Five very miserable years. I kept getting worse and all I got was misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis, too many pills for conditions I didn't even have, and a lot of tears and frustration.

Along the way I did find out several conditions that I actually do have, i.e., the back problems, but none of them explained all of my symptoms. Fibro does.

The good news is, if you can get a correct diagnosis and a sympathetic doctor your condition can improve. To my knowledge it won't go away. I've never heard of a complete spontaneous remission, but it certainly can be managed. It affects everyone differently. The way it affects people seems to run the gamut from mildly annoying to completely debilitating.

I hope this helps. There will be lots of other people along shortly to talk with you, too.

The most important thing is to discuss it with your doctor and see if it might be the correct diagnosis for you.

I hope you'll keep us posted on your situation Smile

I'm going to share a website with charts about halfway down the page. It's a very long url so I'll apologize now! Anyway, it shows a lot of the pressure points, but not all of them. I have them also on the back 'corners' of my rib cage, the tops of my thighs about mid-way up and on the back of my arms a little down from the shoulders. Have your hubby start pressing on the back part of you in those areas and you check the front. If you have many very sore spots in those areas, you probably have fibromyalgia.

Don't forget that there are many other things that can mimic FMS, things like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lyme Disease, lupus, etc. Don't rule anything out or close your mind to them. If you need to have breast reduction surgery, you do want to check into any disease you have, but you ultimately need to have breast reduction surgery. Once you have it, it may stop all the pain, because the tingling in your fingers may be from a nerve being pinched off due to the pressure of your breasts being pulled against your back and shoulder tissues. So, don't rule anything out at this point.

*hugs*

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help. I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Something has changed within me/Something is not the same/I'm through with playing by/The rules of someone else's game/Too late for second-guessing/Too late to go back to sleep/It's time to trust my instincts/Close my eyes and leap...I'm through accepting limits/Cuz someone says they're so/Some things I can not change/But till I try I'll never know/Too long I've been afraid of/Losing love I guess I lost/Well if that's love/It comes at much too high a cost/I'd sooner buy Defying Gravity/Kiss me good-bye I'm Defying Gravity/I think I'll try Defying Gravity/And you won't bring me down...

thank all of you for your advice! greatly appreciated! im definatley going through with the Breast reduction in hope that it relieves some of if not all the pain, this all started happening 5 years ago when i got pregnant with my 1st son, as far as the pressure point is that simply by rubbing or touching those area to see if the they are sensitive or painful because i know sometimes my husband will jokinly poke me in the arm or leg (and not hard at all) it will hurt, im like what the hell! i just figured i have sensitive skin. i have an apt. with my doc im may so i will discuss it with her then. i know it just sucks because my sons are 2 & 4 and love to piggy back, run outside and play soccer in which are things i cant do with them but we do find other things to do!!
