Ok, I have gottne very scared again! I know that with fibro, the pain changes and migrates all around the bosy, but why does my pain seem to hit places that aren't considered the "tender points"? For example, this week I had really bad stabbing pain in my armpit (it actually felt like a swollen lymph nodes. Then this morning I woke up with pain in my hips, lower back, and my stomach muscles above my belly button. I realized by the end of the day that this pain was being cause by my jeans. The muscles in my belly that were being affected was right where the button of my pants digs into my stomach. And the muscles in my back and hips are also where the waistband is on my jeans. Does anyone else experience these pains? Are they realted to fibro? I have had so many tests done (blood tets, cat scans, bone scans, MRI's, nerve studis, muscle tests). All came back normal, so that is why they think it is fibro. Please if anyone out there can help me take these scared thoughts out of my head I would appreciate it. My husband is starting to get annoyed with my constant depression!!

about the depression, anyone with a chronic condition will have problems with depression. I have pain eveerywhere not just in the spots they use to dx fibro. Fibro is a very complicated illness and effects the entire body -from the scalp to the botton of your feet. I would suggest reading as much here as you can. It would be safe to assume the pain you have is from the fibro but if you are overly concerned you could see your doctor.

I agree with Teain, and unfortunately the depression goes with it too. I have several books I can recommend to you that are excellent and may help enlighten your husband too,if you're interested just pm me and i will give you the titles. It might help to see a counselor for your depression. I compare chronic illness the same as the grief of death. You are grieving the old you and trying to deal with this new way of life that you didn't choose, but you and your husband have to learn the best way to deal with it. At first the dx is a shock. Then you go through the denial. Then comes the denial and the why ME?Then the you try to bargain with yourself if I could do this this and that maybe I'll be my old self again. Then you enter the depression stage. Then comes the testing and trying new meds of all kinds and different treatments. And finally the acceptance and with that comes a certain type of peace. I'm not saying you won't stop trying to find ways of making yourself feel better and praying for a cure, but you learn to accept the things you can do and accept the things you can't. It doen't happen overnight,it takes time, and it will take your husband time also. Dont shut each other out, talk, talk and talk some more. I am seperated at the time and we are going through counseling to try to work this out, which is something I wish we had done before we seperated. If there is anything I can do,please let me know.We are all here to help.....

It is most likely the fibro.I was told that it can hit anywhere. Those 18 spots are just the ones most have it in. I hope you get something to get your fibro under control. Sounds like you need muscle relaxant.
I have dystonia, neuropathy, gerd, arthritis, and fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel and other ailments. I enjoy embroidery, music, and reading my Bible and Christian books. I love to bake. I try to be very supportive and positive.

I have pain in all those places you mentioned and always have.

My hips and lower back (well...entire back) are two places that hurt the worst!

Hope you feel better..and maybe you should get that lymph node checked out?!?!

I took the sugestions given here . I have read nearly every forum to find out what is happening to me. I ask lots of questions and i get very angry and borderline suicidely depressed. This seems to all come with the fibro. when you fell like dung and all test are negative you probly have fibro. Any time a new pain crops up i worry and look it up in here. somethings do need to be taken to the doc because you just don't know. I also stopped wearing jeans. sweats are more comfortable.

good luck and be careful of the anxiety and depression you may need meds for that.

I too have been taking my time looking around. I have found some subject to talk with my doc about. I also have a question. For the most part, I only see my primary care doc. Until the thyroid problems. Does anyone here see another type of doc that my help me more?

I have my primary doc, a rheumy (who manages the fibro), a pain dr who helps with the fibro, and a psychaitrist that manages the Ambien and helps me "sort stuff out". I think the rheumy and pain dr help me the most although the psych is good cuz it helps me to vent stuff so I don't do it to my hubby.

Whatever you do, in finding a dr to help, make sure they know about fibro and they are supportive. Let me know if you have any other ?'s. Feel free to pm me anytime.
