I have been reading that acupunture is a treatment for fibro. Has anyone tried this? The idea of put needles in me kinda makes me scream!! Also, if you get acupunture, does your health insurance cover it?

I have tried accupunture for my fibro. It effects last for about 2 days for me. I was worried about the needles but the Dr. I went to was really good and I did not feel them going in. They are so thin, they are as thin as a strand of hair. The only feeling that is odd and sometimes hurts depending on what nerve they are hitting is when they move the needle around inside to make sure the are in the right spot and to stimulate the nerve. I liked it because once he got a couple needles in, you could feel the pain going away and I got a natural high from it. It feels like when your pains meds first start kicking in but it is your own body taking care of itself. It really is quite amazing what your body can do. Some insurance will cover it. Mine did but only after my $250 deductible was met. Then my sessions would have been $25 each visit for 10 visits. 10 visits isn't nearly enough to get the full advantage of the long term effects of it. You need to go a couple of times a week for a while to "train" your body so to speak. I will defenitly start going again when my husbands hours at work pick up again. It is very addicting too. I first I thought can someone really get addicted to accupunture? My Dr.said oh yes you can. In fact, he has a couple of patience that can't function unless they get it done everday! Must be nice to have that much money! LOL Anyway, I hope my rambling answered your questions. I would try it if you have the means too.
