My first round is coming up Wednesday morning and I'm finding myself starting to stress about it just a tad. I've opted to NOT get an IV and be put in to that twilight sleep, or whatever it's called. Just to have a local and get it over with so I'm not stuck there any longer than I have to be.

Has anyone else ever opted to do that? If so, how did it work for you? Does anyone know if it's worse than having an EMG done-in your ankle? (cause I have to say the needles in the ankle HURT...a LOT!)

Thanks,

Kristy

Kristy, I was put to Twilight sleep when mine were done. I hope someone can help you out. How many rounds are you going to do? I only did 2 because they did not help me and I chose not to continue but I have a friend that they did great for her husband. If they put a local in you, you should do fine. Have you ever had an epidural? Surely it can't feel worse than that and I did not think that was so bad. Let us know how it goes.

bc, I'm supposed to go in three times, twice for my back and once for the sacroiliac joint, so I'll go in for all three because it's the last one I want the most-and the one I wish they were doing first.

Yes, I've had three c-sections, two with epidurals and those weren't bad. Nothing I'd like on a daily basis, but not unbearable. Certainly better than the ankle part of my EMG!!!

Thanks for the info. I'm sorry they didn't work for you!

Kristy, I think you should relax. This could turn out to be really good for you.

I've never had them in my back, but I get them in my elbow. They just give me a shot to numb it and then go in. It doesn't bother me, but needles don't bother me in the least- except in my mouth!

You could seriously poke me full of holes all day. Even when they do arterial blood gasses it doesn't bother me. Come at me with a shot of novacaine and I need general anesthesia!

It's actually so bad that I did find a dentist who'll put you under.

Anyway, you're going to be fine. Who knows? It may work great on you, too! The shots in my elbow always give me a lot of relief.

I know what you mean about the dentist, Tina! I don't think there's anything that stresses me out more than that! Well, I'm sure a lot of things do, but I mean like medical/dental procedures.

And I'm not super stressed...just worried because I don't know how close the shots are to the spine, and I'm a little worried what could happen if I jump or jerk a bit if it does hurt. I know they know what they're doing, I just would feel a little more comfortable if "I" knew exactly what they were doing.

Then again, it might be best if I don't know! Kind of like c-sections. It's one thing to know your guts are right there for the world to see, but quite another to see it for yourself. Obviously I never saw two of my kids born!
