I have read in a few places (threads) about us Fibromites having dreams. Mostly bad ones. I don't have bad ones...mine are more strange. But, the reason I started this thread was in hopes for us to share our dreams with each other. And, also...I wanted to say that my Acupuncturist asks me EVERY TIME I see her....

"Have you had any nightmares, terrible or bothersome dreams?"....

So, maybe it's a Fibro thing?!

I just wrote about this in another thread. Most of my dreams are pleasant adventures, much more entertaining and exciting than my real life, especially when I nap during the day. So far I have been blessed in that way, because I spend a lot of time in the REM sleep and very little in the deep restorative sleep. I have fewer nightmares than before the fibro, but then, I was working and under a lot of stress at work and at home in a bad marriage. I think that one's stress level definitely affects dreams, and if you are in pain or constantly stressed out, then nightmares are more likely. At least, that is how it is for me. You know, I was just thinking that I should start writing them down right when I wake up in the morning, because by the afternoon, they are gone from my memory.

Suzee, I am curious -- does acupuncture help to get rid of nightmares and unpleasant dreams?

I used to have more vivid dreams before Fibro...when I was on wellbutrin. Very colorful, vivid dreams. I'm guessing now I don't get to REM sleep very often, so that might be the reason why I haven't been having dreams lately. The last one I had (recently, with fms) was me on this canoe ride at an amusement park, and inside the ride were drag queens dressed up in halloween costumes...very...weird.

I have horrible nightmares. I've had ones that I jump off of a building and commit suicide. could be the pain that causes those. I had litho about 10 days ago and I told my husband that I hope I don't wake up fom the anethesia. I made them give me all the pain meds they could since I don't have any at home. that was the first time I felt comfortable in a very long time.

I don't think I dream either singingangel. I don't sleep well so I guess that's why.

I have horrible nightmares and have been for the last month or so.

Last night i didnt sleep very well but when i did i had a dream i shot my son in the head and i was trying to stop the bleeding. how horrible huh!!!

Then whenever i would go back to sleep it would pick up where it left off. I dont know why i have these but they are driving my crazy...not really but you know what i mean. I have a dream book but there is nothing in there about these kinds of dreams plus i dont think dreams are in the same with some fibro people. What do you think??

I'm going to find out WHY she asks me that particular question. If it's because she wants to know what sleep 'stage' I make it to...or if it has to do with the Fibro itself.

hipmama...I don't know if Acupuncture can help them or not. I don't have 'bad' dreams or nightmares...I have more vivid, weird strange dreams!

But I DO know that Acupuncture can help with ANYTHING...so I don't see why you couldn't go for that purpose as well!

suzee, I've tried acupunture as well. I did feel relief from my pain, but unfortunately only for a day or two. I tried it regularly for 6 weeks and the results didn't last any longer. It got too spendy. I wish insurance covered it. Sorry, I'm off the topic of dreams.

I dream most nights, very strange usually. They tend to be entertaining though. Most people with FMS also have sleep disorders. So, as others have mentioned, we get more REM than restorative sleep, and REM is when we dream. It makes sense that we dream more. Interesting topic.

HI...I am currently going to in for accupunture now... I do have her work on some of the pain areas..but mostly for the stomach problems..... and it has help me a lot.... I am not as sick to my stomach, it has not gone a way all together, my gosh it is a lot less... better than any meds I have been on..... Yes as far as the pains go.... it depends on where she treated

it helps anywhere from 2 days to maybe 2 weeks.... my feet are the best, like a treatment will carry my for about 2 week.. shoulders...2 to maybe 5 days... I think with that and homeopathic remedies, it has help me some......

And as far as sleep goes... went to a sleep specialist.. and he was the one that talked to me about the large range of sleep disorders that go along with fibro.......

Any way....thanks for listening.......

Hope you all have a great day tomorrow....

Fibro pain free...............

Craig.....
