My name is Natasha and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I was 18. Since then I have tried multiple things as I'm sure we all have but lately I just feel like giving up. I am 22 years old and I can't imagine living with this forever. My doctor just keeps me running in circles it seems. I want to find someone who can better treat me but I have no idea where to start. I am just so fustrated and no one seems to really get it, besides my mother who also has it. The only thing I am doing right now for treatment is taking ambien to actually get some sleep and vicidin when the pain is bad. But even that is starting to not work as good anymore. I work full time and try to deal as best I can but I just don't know where to turn anymore...

Well, Natasha11 it seems like you should start looking for a new Rheumy. Unfortunately, the same thing will probably happen all over again. Just remember you are not alone you have such a support group for fibromyalgia. These days the doctors treat the symptoms and have not found any cure yet. I will pray for you and I hope that you keep your chin up and fight for yourself know one else will.

Hi Natasha, welcome to the group. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. I've been there. I have a dr. I feel I can trust even though I sometimes wish he was a little more aggressive. I hope you can find a dr. you can trust. If nothing else, you have found people here who understand. Welcome.

Welcome Natasha. The best thing I have found to keep me going when I want to give up is this group. If I had a dollar for every time I have wanted to just give up, crawl under the covers and hide from the world for the rest of my life, I'd be rich. Just when I start to get my motivation back, something happens that just knocks me right back down. It's very difficult to face a lifetime of pain with a positive attitude when there seems to be no relief in sight. Just hold on to the hope that you will find the perfect treatment for you tomorrow, and keep on going. Every day there is research being done, and advances in treatment being made, granted it seems very slow, but there is hope. Just hang in there. You are not alone.

Natasha, welcome to the group. I would start out by getting a new md. I would call around and find a md that is fibro "friendly" which means one that believes in fibro and will treat it. That will save you lots of time, money and heart ache. I go to a pain mgmt md also. Some people have had bad experiences with them but I love mine. He is the one that gives me my pain meds and he works with a lot of fibro pts so he knows alot about it. You will just need to look around. Another thing I would suggest is to read up on fibro so that you will know what you can about it. It is your best line of defense.
