I finally see a rheumy on thurs. my primary dr claims that lyrica should be enough for the pain. well, it's not. I'm having a hard time taking care of my daughter. some days I can't carry her downstairs or carry her at all. what do I say to my rheumy to convince her that lyrica alone isn't doing it. I need something for the pain!!!!

You need to tellhim you are stillin pain. The lyrica might need tobe upped. You alsomight need a muscle relaxant also. You need to just tell him that you still are in pain.

I tried Lyrica and it did nothing for my pain either. The Rheumatologist should give you something else or will up your dosage of Lyrica. It's a trial and error type of thing to see what helps.

I'm on 100mg of Lyrica and 10mg of percocet three times daily and I finally got the pain under control. Also, my doctor gives me a shot of demarol, phenergin, and vitamins every two weeks. I don't know the combination of the vitamins but it sure has helped.

Suzanner, Hello!

If your doc does not help you with your pain then it's time to move on!! There are those docs who really don't understand the pain of fibro and think you should do other things to help yourself.

I don't know where you live but I hope for you that you can find another good doc!!

Hang in there girl, I'm in a lot of pain lately and it's hard...as well as others that don't have much pain control!

Maybe you should consider seeing a new doctor. My rheumatologist makes it a point not to prescribe pain medication. This one may be different. If you see a new doctor, maybe you can explain that to him.

I take muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatories, and now cymbalta. I refuse to take Lyrica for personal reasons (i'd never talk against a med that I don't take, just b/c I dont want others not to take it if it may work for them). I asked my doctor to prescribe me with percoset - just because the pain sometimes (especially when it rains) is so unbearable I can't sleep - and the perc will make it bearable. I was honest and told him that I really get that bad only when it rains. He gave me half a month's worth. So they're there when I need them.

All this to say, maybe you can reason with the doctor and say that you need it for when it gets really bad - and maybe he can give you a certain number of pills instead of prescribing a daily dosage.

If the doc isn't understanding you, you need to see another doctor. There's no point in paying someone to help you who isn't.

"For if the readiness is there first, it is especially acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what a person does not have." - 2 Cor. 8:12
