OMG...YES! I had Brochitis (sp) last year and had to take 4 different antibiotics because it would NOT get better. I was down for almost 8 weeks. EIGHT WEEKS!!!

If the flu is going around and it's a '24 hour' one...NOT FOR ME...it's more like a week! It's like that with everything for me!

Also, like if I cut myself or even one of my cat scratches me...I take FOREVER to heal. My skin just won't heal!

No fun huh?

Sorry you're not feeling well. And I do think it's a Fibro thing. We tend to take forever to feel our fibro-selves again.

Take a lot longer to get over the flu, recover from a surgery, heal from a fall, etc.

My thing is that I seem to get bruises easily. But they just hang around for weeks, and even sometimes months. No fun!

I'll be thinking about you. Take care!

Yes, this is so true. I have experienced this with surjuries, illness, infections, and any type of cut or sore. Just an example, I had a reaction from a med and I got open sores all over, that was a year ago and some of those sores still aren't healed! Just another wonderful part of fibro!

I had foot surgery on halloween and stil havn't healed from it. I now have to wear a bone stimulator every night and if that doesn't help, the bones will have to be removed.

I spent all of august in the hospital with pneumonia. I also developed pleurisy at the same time. I think finally the pneumonia is gone but deffinatly not the pleurisy.

hang in there.

Unfortunately, my doctor told me the same thing. I've had surgeries, biopsies, pleurisy, and bronchitis. I even had a horrible reaction to the bandages that were put on me and they were Latex free. It just killed my skin! Just one more added aggravation!

well, the last three months have been a continuous stream of infection on top of infection, so that I have never really recovered. Flu or colds would turn into sinus infections and bronchitis which lasted for weeks and required antibiotics, leaving me so exhausted that I've spent weeks in bed and still always weak and tired. Of course these illnesses triggered all of the fibro and chronic fatigue symptoms and made everything that much worse. Luckily I was able to avoid having to be in the hospital. I think that our immune systems are messed up as compared to normal people, and they just don't work as efficiently. I seem to be much better in the summer partly because I don't catch these nasty viruses so prevalent in the winter. I also bruise easily and they take forever to go away.

I haven't experienced this with Fibro. I usually just take longer to recover b/c I have asthma. When I get sick (even before FMS), it would automatically turn into a breathing issue...which means a week's cold turns into a month and a half of medical issues.

The last cold I had, this happened. When I tried taking my normal FMS meds, along with the breathing meds, my body freaked out and acted like I was overdosing. My heart was racing like never before. So, maybe it's the meds that doesn't allow us to get better as fast - maybe it's meds we usually take that stunt the body from healing as it did normally...I don't know.

Interesting point though - thanks for the post.
