I have been short of breath for 15 yrs. I was finally diagnosed with FM 14 yrs ago, shortly after finishing chemo for cancer. Just walking up a few steps, or up the street, its a problem. Getting up to answer the phone and I'm sob. I'm so worn out from it. I try a new Dr, get disgusted and give up for a few yrs. I had a heart/pulmonary hosp. think it was from acid reflux (2 appts). I had a pulmonary Dr beligently tell me he knew what was wrong, but I wouldn't want to hear it. His answer "I was out of shape", yea real insight & caring there. (1 appt) I was 12 lbs over weight then, but walked a lot, I don't drive. I also do all my yard & house work.

Obviously didn't go bk to him. The latest Dr said he felt it was the FM.(1 appt) I was 44 when this started. I'm so tired of not having any answers, its very discouraging. I would love to hear if any of you have this problem? Would like to hear from you. Thanks!

I think it can come from not exercising enough or from asthma or illness blike bronchitis. I dont think it comes from fibro. I used to get rapid heart beat attack before fibro was dx. That caused shortness of breath also.
I have dystonia, neuropathy, gerd, arthritis, and fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel and other ailments. I enjoy embroidery, music, and reading my Bible and Christian books. I love to bake. I try to be very supportive and positive.

Thanks singingangel for your reply. I was tested & don't have asthma. When i get short of breath(sob), my pulse does also speed up. I started going to the gym several months ago. I exercise 50-60 mins. but get very tired. Prob because of being sob? I get so frustrated, because I'm so tired of breathing hard all the time.

hi hon, welcome to the family! I dont know what the shortness of breath is. I do have times when my heart races and then I get shortness of breath but the doc told me that was from a med I am on. I dont know, I hope you figure it out soon.

Much love,

Singingangel...you mentioned rapid heartbeat...can you elaborate on that a little. Trying to compare with my problems.
