I guess there is nothing to lose by trying the hypnosis -- except for your money if you get someone who isn't legitimate or any good at it.

The other thing that has worked for me besides the Zanaflex is an herb mixture i get at the health food store that has Valerian root extract, 5-HTP, hops, chamomile, passion flower, dandelion, melatonin and a couple of other ingts. I have to take twice the recommended dosage, but then it usually will work for me...eventually.

I have heard that Xyrem is a knockout drug that makes people sleep, but it has so many bad side effects and strict directions on how to take it. I was asked to participate in a study on it for fibro once but when they told me about the side effects it sounded way too dangerous for every day use.

There's a product that I want to try soon called Fibro-Sleep sold online at Prohealth.com - I am not in any way promoting this product, I am just trying to find something more natural than the Zanaflex to help me fall asleep and stay asleep at night. It has received an excellent rating from fibro users, so I am thinking of ordering some...will let you all know how I make out.

Hipmama, I've never heard os Xyrem. Fibro-sleep, huh? I'd be very curious about that one.

I absolutely agree with you about the hypnosis. I'd strongly urge anyone that does it to only use a legitimate psychologist.

My doctor won't even give me decent pain meds. There's no way he would give me xyrem. If he would, I'd try it.

Mommy, it sounds like we are back to the baseball bat idea. Do you want aluminum or wood?

That's it bc. A baseball bat will solve all my problems. I can lower the value of my car to get my health coverage back, and then knock myself in the head with it to get some rest. Since too much aluminum is bad for your health, I'll take wood thanks.

Okay...here's another one of my 'wacky' suggestions. If I could handle the taste better, I'd do it, and the time or two I did, it worked. Equal amounts of organic apple cider vinegar and organic honey-2 Tbsp's a little while before you want to sleep. A couple more if it doesn't help within 30-60 minutes. It tastes awful-and you want to make sure your rinse your mouth with baking soda and water(vinegar can be rough on tooth enamel).

These two websites have some interesting info on sleep...

http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/health-benefits-of- honey.html

The following quote is taken from http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/insomnia.html#ACV

"09/18/2007: Julie from Elk Grove, CA, USA writes: "I am 48 yrs old and have suffered from severe insomnia for 9 years. I have taken ambien sleeping pills for the last 5 years just to get a good night sleep. I started taking apple cider vinegar and baking soda for eczema and it CURED my insomnia. I mean totally cured. No more sleeping pills and I am not exaggerating when I say I sleep like i did in my 20's. At first my skin felt like it was burning for a couple of days then when it was gone so were many ailments. It also lowered my cholesterol 30 points, and I no longer have acid reflux. Thank you for your website. Its been such a blessing."

Guess I need to start trying some of this stuff myself!!! Although I do use quite a bit of stuff from the earthclinic.com website. I LOVE that website!

Oooooooo, yuck! I hate vinegar! I wonder if it would work. They say it's really good for a lot of things. Hmmm, wonder if I have any honey?

amommy...it really is good for you! When I have the energy to be disciplined (not very often!), I try to remember to have 2-4 tablespoons a day...with about 1/2 tsp of baking soda (helps kill the taste and it's good for you-earthclinic.com explains about that in one section), plus about 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper (good for circulation and other stuff).

WHEN I do that, I actually have more energy and feel better. It also helps with the pain a little, too.

Just a side note...at that same website, I read that if you have vinegar before meals it can help you lose weight. I did it for a couple of weeks, for quite a few meals, and lost 2 pounds a week without changing anything but that. But you can only do the baking soda 5 days a week (you're supposed to NOT use it 2 days a week), and forgot.

So...

I just need to get better at remembering to do it. Wish I knew why it was so easy to forget-what a pain in the neck. LOL...and it's so stupid. HOW can you forget to do stuff that makes you feel better???

Wow, I would think vinegar would actually cause acid reflux. Strange. Strange and nasty!
