Howdy Howdy. Um my doctor gave me Trazodone. This stuff puts me into a coma. If I take what he put on here I sleep nearly 20 hours. I don't know if this will help you, but I hope it does.

Amommy, I wish I had some ideas to give you. I do not have any, as tired as I get, I seem to not sleep well between about 8pm and 12am and again between 6am and 10 am, don't know why, it is odd hours but that is when I am awake, any other time I am out of it.

I like the benedryl idea, that may help. Have you tried some "white" noise like a fan or ocean sounds? Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't tried the lunesta or trazadone. I'll keep those two in mind.

Does anyone sleep better during the day than at night? And does your pain seem to be worse at night?

Mommy, have you read my story about hypnosis for sleep? I had a regular PhD psych hypnotize me for sleep. I made a recording of it which I then made into a loop so that it would play all night.

I'm not a fan of hypnosis. I knew that he did it, but I had wrestled with the decision to have it done. I was absolutely desperate, though. There is not a single sleeping pill on the market that will get me more than a night or two of sleep- and not good sleep at that. At that time I was getting maybe two hours a night if I was lucky.

One of the better decisions I ever made, I have to be honest. It even hypnotized my husband and the cat! I had accidentally left a wake up cue in the middle of the loop. The three of us all woke up at the same time with sleepy, stupid looks on our faces! LOL!

Anyway, I highly recommend it. I would definitely go to a regular therapist to have it done, though. I'd shy away from those hypnotherapists who advertise in the yellow pages and such.

Let me know what you think.

This seems so simple but it works for me everytime.

Well I don't need it now cause I got CFS. But when I had problems

trying to fall asleep I'd take two advil and it would knock me out.

I'd wake up refreshed and ready to go.

I take 2 Zanaflex 4 mg about a half hour before I want to go to sleep for the night and most of the time they knock me right out and do not cause much of a "hangover" feeling in the A.M. I had tried everything before this. I am nearly always more able to sleep during the day than at night when I should be sleeping and want to sleep!

Ok guys, I know what I am about to say is gonna get pooh-poohed because if someone told me this a few months ago I would have told them they were insane, BUT...Im already on Lunesta and pain pills, blah blah blah. NOTHING was working, it would take me a week to get one normal night sleep. I was in the tea aisle at the store and saw this tea, its Celestial seasonings "sleepytime extra" with valerian root. I drink that and Im out within 20 minutes. Hey, its worth a try! I just bought my second box, which means Ive had 20 nights of actual sleep! WOO-HOO! Give it a shot, if it doesnt work you're only out a few bucks. Good luck!
Where are we going and why am I in this basket?!!!

Be kind to me, I have a teenager!

Zanaflex doesn't do a thing for me, I may as well take a spoon full of sugar, same with advil. I've tried the sleepy time and sleepy time extra, nothing. But thanks anyway. I really do appreciate the suggestions. Are you beginning to see why I'm so frustrated? I've done all the sleep hygiene stuff. I've tried all the home remedies. I just want someone to knock me out.Smile The bad thing is if I'm not having trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep, I'm sleeping all the time.

Tina, what happens if the electric goes off before it plays the wake up cue? Do you just keep on sleeping?

Mommy, that's an interesting question. I have no idea because it has never happened. I assume you would just keep sleeping.

The reason I put it on a loop is because my insomnia was SOOOOO bad! I wake up normally in the morning. Hmmm... I have no idea how it works, but it does.

Also, and I guess this would be one of the difference between a legitimate therapist and someone who just does hypnosis, I only had one session. That's it.

I love sleepy time tea but all it does is make me relaxed and drowsy. No sleepy time there. It is tasty, though.

Oh I know how you feel i was at one time getting only 1-2 hours of sleep every night. My md finally gave me ambier (not the CR said there was to many side effects) that worked for about 4 days than nothing... My husband suggested I try takeing a melatonin with my ambien. I now sleep for 5-6 hours. If it is the weekend I add a shot of Nyquil. I sleep for 10-12 hours! I wake up a little groggy and extremly stiff on the weekends but it is worth it to me!
