MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

I was prescribed antidepressants first, before they found evidence of Fibro. Doesn't it figure, even today, docs tend to jump to the conclusion that if a female has strange pain and tiredness that they can't quickly explain, they automatically jump to the conclusion that it's all in the woman's head?!?

Anyway, the doc thought that I had stress-induced anxiety and depression. I bought it for a while but when the pains and tiredness continued, I pushed for more investigation of a physical cause. Low and behold, a sleep study detected alpha-wave disturbance and just recently they found arthritis in my back. Needless to say, I don't take antidepressants anymore! I don't like meds that mess with my serotonin levels that much anyway. I actually don't think it's healthy for people without clinical depression to take SSRI's. I know they didn't have a positive effect with me at all!
