Anyone have trouble with swelling? My face, hands, feet and lower legs will swell and get real uncomfortable. I can tell its extra fluid because its pitting edema. When you press you finger firmly on it for several seconds then let go there's a deep indentation. I've cut back on my salt and now use a low sodium substitute. I'll wake up in the morning and my face is puffy and feels full. My urologist says edema is normal with fibro, but I don't know.

It is probably from one of your meds. My dr told me edema is not good to have. You should look your meds up and see if any have that side effect. I know that lyrica can do that. Not sure of others.
I have dystonia, neuropathy, gerd, arthritis, and fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel and other ailments. I enjoy embroidery, music, and reading my Bible and Christian books. I love to bake. I try to be very supportive and positive.

I have the swelling too. I can't wear my rings anymore. I have high blood pressure and just thought it was that. Maybe its more than the HBP?

I also have the swelling, mostly in my ankles. It gets worse if I have to stand a lot during the day. Laying down and elevating my legs above the level of my head helps reduce the swelling somewhat. It really bothers me to have ankles as big as an elephant's but my doctor didn't seem all that concerned when I told her. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in its occurrence, it seems to come out of nowhere then I won't have any swelling for a month or more, so I don't know for sure what is causing this. Could be meds, could be fibro, could be both, or something else? I don't' know...

I have a horrible time with swelling. Sometimes my face gets soo puffy...I can't even bare to look at myself in the mirror. I can push into my ankles (and just above them as well) and make a HUGE dent that stays for like 5 minutes!!!

But, I started wearing COPPER bracelets...one on each wrist a couple of months (or so) ago and my rings are literally FALLING OFF! My watch even turns over so the face is underneath my wrist.

I then went without the bracelets for a few days to see if I was imagining it and to my surprise...my rings were tight, my watch was tight and everything was swollen right back up...

I put them back on and within ONE DAY...the swelling was back down!

It sounds unbelievable and maybe it doesn't work for everyone. But, I ONLY wear silver jewelry...NOT ANYMORE...those two copper bracelets stick out like sore thumbs and I don't care!

THEY WORK!!!

If anyone decides to give it a try...they're not expensive, I got mine at an antique shop for DIRT CHEAP! Please, let me know if you try it and what your experience is!! I'd love for some of you to give it a try and see what happens. I mean, it CAN'T just be ME!!!

If you wanna try this...we could do like a 'study' between us. If you're interested...pm me and we'll try to get something set up! Heyyyyyyyy....that'd be funnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow, really? that is so cool that the copper bracelets work for you!

I'm willing to give it a try, it can't hurt and it may work for me too. I swell up the worst in the summer in the hot humid weather and around "that time of month" it is almost unbearable I am so puffy.

It's interesting that so many of us have this problem. Before the fibro I would retain fluids occasionally but nothing like this!

I have the swelling in feet, ankles and calves ONLY when I go to Orlando, Fl. The swelling was so bad the week I spent there it split the heel skin on my foot till it bled.

Flew home and spent one night here (NY) woke up and it was completely gone. Went again, same thing. Stayed 2 days then down to Sarasota fl, it went away! Sooo weird.

Copper! wow, I'm gonna try that. Thanks Suzee for the suggestion.

so maybe we should stay away from Orlando. I'm okay with that.
