I'm desperate too dear. My doctor will only give me tramadol for pain. Others hear are on some much heavier duty meds. Have you talked to your doctor about provigil. Some members here, don't ask me their names right now, have reported improvement in wakefulness and energy. I don't have energy to do things and pretty much just sleep all the time. Is changing your pain med and option? I'm sorry I can't be of much help, but I do know how you must feel as I'm in a similar situation. There are a lot of wonderful people here who I'm sure will be along to give you the advice that I am lacking.Smile

WElcome to the group. As far as your question, I can tell you the main thing I am on for pain is methadone er, but it does nothing for energy and there has not been anything that they have given me yet that has helped that. I am still hopefull that we can find something but, from the consensus of the group, I don't think there is much hope for that.

Hi! Welcome solhiggins! I have been through like a pharmacy of medicines...if you ever want a list send me a PM and I will try to remember them. I just started hydrocodone yesterday. It seems to help the pain pretty well, I actually made it to class today. It does nothing in terms of energy though...that will be the next problem I shall tackle.
Meds:
Geodon 160mgs daily
Tegratol 300mgs daily
Klonopin 1-2mgs prn
Synthroid .100mcg daily
Protonix 20mg daily
Hydrocodone 5/350mg prn

Soledad! Welcome to our group. I'm so happy that you've joined us.

How long have you been on your meds? Sometimes it just takes a bit to adjust. When I first started mine they made me sleepy, but they really don't anymore.

That said, I don't have a lot of energy. A lot of my day is spent here. It makes me feel better and doesn't require a lot of physical energy. Even taking a shower is exhausting, but that's another story!

Personally, I take neurontin, vicodin, ultram, robaxin, prescription strength ibuprofen and atavan. The only thing I take every day is the vicodin and ultram. Those I take twice a day. The other stuff is as I need it, i.e., during a flare or if I've overdone it.

You know, though, that's just what works for me. EVERYONE here is different when it comes to the meds. It may take a few tries to get something that works for you, too. It takes a little patience.

We use a lot of laughter here, too, and most of us find that that helps tremendously.

I hope you stick around because I'd like to get to know you. Keep us posted and let us know what you think!

Welcome to our group. As far as your question is concerned, I think we all wish we had an easy answer for that one. My best advice would be to get as informed as possible on fibro and try different techniques and remedies to find what works best for you. We are all very different as much as we are the same. There is no one size fits all.

The non drug options that work best for me for pain are heat, trigger point therapy, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.

The non drug options that work best for me for energy are breathing exercises, laughter, mild stretching exercise and I do mean very mild and washing my face with a old wash cloth.

I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy this wonderful and informative group.

Favorite Poem :
It is such a relief when you first find out.
That the pain really does have a name,
And then you will ask (and everyone does),
"Just where can i place all the blame".
No matter the limits, no matter the pain,
There's no evil, cruel "Master Plan".
It just simply happens, It just simply is.
You adapt, and you change what you can.
But even with the knowing the best and the worst,
All the pitfalls the future could hold,
You still have a choice, you quit or you fight.
You determine the story that's told.
And every small step that we take, my dear friends,
Each battle that we slowly win,
Just credits the love and the caring we share
With the FMily that we call our friends.

Good Morning everyone, I would like to thank you for your reply, this is the first time doing this and Iam happy to know that Im not the only one going throu this, I first found out that I had Fibro it was back in 2001, at first I only had it when I drink a beer or wine and that would triger the pain, I thoug it was part of the hangover, but then it would happen when it was very coold during the day, the first doctors I saw they though it was only in my head and they send me to go see a therapist, but finally I found a doctor that did a little more research and found that what I had was Fybrom, but now the pain is getting worse and Im tired of taking pain meds that only make me sleepy and tired, I wish I had more energy to do things with my son and I don't have any, I wish there was a combination of meds that I could take that would take the pain away and at the same time another pill that will give me energy to do things, so far the only pain medication I take is DARVOCET which relieves about 75% of my pain away, but it does make me sleepy, the worse is that I am a Florist, I owned a Flowershop and my hour of work are very long and I need to concentrate in my work and with the darvocet I get sleepy.

Thank you for taking the time to respond I appreciate all your support, God Bless you and keep you pain free........ Soledad.
