Does anyone get neck spasms? They are killing me. They don't draw my head back or to the side but they sure do hurt. I don't know what to do anymore. The dr. up here won't refer me for an epidural which helped when I was in California. No one has suggested surgery. Actually, the first doctor said my neck was inoperable. Between my neck and my lower back, I am totally miserable and ready for a wheelchair. I cry a lot from the pain and I can barely walk any more. Aargh. That's what I say! Aargh! Sad

Hi Sistrozzie - it's so good seeing your pretty face.

I'm so so sorry. I don't really deal with neck spasms - have upper back spasms, but not neck. Mine is just more stiffness.

Maybe go to ER? Can you call the doctor in California and see if he will call the doctor you have now to advise him somehow?

Oh goodness...I wish I could take it away. Please keep us posted. If that happened to me, I would surely have a 'meltdown'.

Very gentle hugs,

Kay

I am so sorry Sister, Have you tried heat? But of course you have, sorry...IKP was talking about trigger points in the neck just the other day but she is off sick right now. She had an ovarian cyst rupture and is waiting for the pain to melt away. Poor dear is miserable.

She was talking about trigger point therapy and referred to some book but for the life of me I don't remember. I think she goes to a Chiro for it tho. Don't quote me tho. Sorry.

Love,
Casty

Hi sisrozzie, I am so sorry you are in pain from your neck spasms. (I Just woke up from my nap so don't look at may hair.)

I've been getting those neck spasms something fierce since Dec.

first they went up the right side then the left. I am about to go back to the Chiropractor to see what he could do about them if they don't go away. Just like getting a charlie horse up the back of your head that's how they feel to me. He told me to alternate heat and cold 20 minutes each on it the last time it acted up. I'm going to try it again cause I don't think they are going away this time. I know it's my pillow. I need to get a new one but can't find one that I like.

Hugs to you my friend

Jan

Ask your doctor about this. Its got to help you as well.

Sistrozzie, I am so sorry you have these neck problems. I can really sympathize with you. I have spasms in my neck that actually reverse the curve in my neck. I have degenerative disc disease and I lack the normal curve to my neck anyway and when those muscles tense up it curves but the wrong way! I can't even move my head when it happens. I had an awesome chiropractor once who told me to roll up a towel and place it under my neck while laying flat on my back. The towel should be thick enough till your head just touches the floor or bed. He told me to do that for 10- 15 min. twice a day and it really helps the muscles relax. I've been on flexeril, zanaflex, robaxin, skelaxin, none of them worked too well. Even when my neck is relaxed my doctor says the muscles are tight. Isn't it a pain management doctor that does the epidurals and nerve blocks and such? Can you see one without a referral?
I am not a doctor. Please consult with your doctor before following any advice given by myself or anyone else on this or any other forum.

Well, I can't blame them on my pillow because I have a chiropractic water pillow! Sometimes I can't lift my head off the pillow because that causes the spasms to start. It's getting to be too much for me to take anymore. I need some kind of relief but the Oxycodone doesn't seem to help that much, but I haven't taken any for over ten days. I've been trying Xanax for muscle relaxation but I don't think that's working either.
