MDJunction to me

jayna01"My name is Jayna and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how much MDJunction has meant to me. I always felt so alone before I joined in April of 2012. I felt like there wasn't anyone that really cared about me and what I was going through. I felt like there was no one that would truly listen to me in what I was feeling. Nobody was there for me. That is before I found MDJ!

I have found and met such good people on these forums. I never ever knew there were such compassionate people before MDJ. It's also nice to know that I can come here anytime and get support for what I am feeling. I feel like I have met some wonderful life long friends. It is also an outlet for me to try and help other people that are hurting. It gives me a good feeling inside and gives me self confidence in helping other people.

I hope MDJ will be as good for you as it has been for me! Many Blessings and Much love.

In Sept. I go back to see my doc. Pain is NOT being properly taken care of.

She wanted me to try Cymbalta last time. After I told her what does work. (that being norco). I`ve read tons of things all of you have written about cymbalta. Told her I do NOT wish to gain any weight. I`m on the thin side so she sorta sneered at that.

Here`s a few things she must acknowledge/understand.

1. I`ve been in pain over 1/2 my life. There`s no way I have time to go off the effexor then `try` the cymbalta to `see` `if` it`ll work. Coming off effexor alone is nasty and takes a very long time.

2. I want her to acknowledge all the things I do do to keep the fibro at bay.

a. exercise

b. drink alot of water

c. know my limits

d. treat myself with care.

e. other stuff i can`t think of right now.

3. I`m recovering quite nicely from a vicious eating disorder (7 years). What I`m doing now works. I`ve no intention of messing with it now. No way.

4. Its not my problem that lots of people have screwed up the narcotics for those of us who really need them. I`m not out to sell drugs, or give them away. Geez.

5. Its MY life not hers. I am older than her, and its time she listened to this patient. Just as important- its time I tell her more about myself!

Hope she listens........I`m too tired to go switchin docs at this point.

Any comments are surely welcome!!

Blessings to all~!

you have to lay the law down.. and that is the end of it... you tell her.. look I am NOT a typical Fibro person you have in your head that whines all day and stays home crying....I get up each day and do ABC and I expect ABC from you and this is What you will get from me..... I had to do this with my new pcp here in NC and I flat out told him You will here from me when I am sick or something is Wrong.... and IF I need my meds for my Fibro upped we will discuss it.. until then... fill my damn perscriptions and treat me ike i dont have fibro unless i bring it up... and do your job and i will do mine.... that straightened his ass out... and when i went in for a virus back in december he said you werent kidding were you... i said nope... now do your job lol.... and he laughed... and he called the other day because i was in for antibiotics and and he called to see how i was since he wasnt there to see me sick....i said hanging in there thanks for calling.. lol Smile Lay the law down... do the smack down LOL... it works lol

I'm an Advocate

Thank you for posting this. I have been afraid that switching doctors because my old one didn't listen was a bit over kill, but you guys help affirm my actions. I like my new primary care doctor. I feel that he actually listens to me and how I want to be treated. He and I are going to try to treat my Fibro without a constant rhuemy. I'm hoping for less doctors. I feel that my Fibro is pretty well controlled right now. What I need work on is my sleep, which he has ordered a sleep study to try to get to the bottom of what's causing it so we know what to treat. When I called my rhuemy, all he did was push Ambien on me and didn't seem to care what was causing my sleep disturbances. I'm am off Ambien now because of an episode of either half-conscious dreaming or hallucinations. I really hope we can figure out my sleep. I feel that once my sleep is better than my Fibro will be better controlled and I'll be closer to my normal self.
Looking for my new normal!

KellyAnn, I hope you & ur doc can figure out ur sleep situation. I can`t take ambien...it takes days to wake up after 1 pill. In my system this med has a huge half-life..

Adewyn, my next appt is in Sept. If you are here on the Cape then, I`ll bring you with me!!!! Love the glow worm!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts ladies

getting into the REM stage of sleep is the most important thing t o control the pain of fibro. I have taken amitriptiline in varying doses for the 30 years I have been treated for it. Thats all I take. None of those "new drugs" or sleeping meds for me! As far as I am concerned they don't know enough about some of these new drugs and how they react in a pt. with fibro. Besides the amitrip the best thing is gentle exercise, water walking is wonderful. Range of motion exercise is good, nothing very strenuous. jUst walking slowly around the block even helps on bad days. So for me its the rem sleep and gentle exercise that helps the most. Forget about some miracle pill.

Montag,

I totally agree with you. Drs have learned with books about things like fibro, where we actually feel it, and live it. We know our bodies better than anyone else, and when we tell a dr something, they should listen. You do have to stick up for yourself, and be your own advocate. Unfortunately sometimes you have to get a little forceful, as they don't want to listen sometimes. Speak up for yourself, and remember, the dr works for you! HUGS

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.
