I was diagnosed with IBS back when I was in middle school. Since the bout I had with it then, I haven't had any problems in years. Now, it seems that the longer I go with the Fibro the worse my stomach gets. I get sick to my stomach almost every time I eat and I get terrible, awful pains in my lower stomach. I was just wondering if the Fibro could have brought the IBS back and worse than ever? I didn't know if the two went hand in hand.

Yes I have IBS too. I had it probably 10 years before I was diagnosed with it. I always have pain in my stomach in the morning and don't eat until the afternoon which my husband HATES. Lots of us complain about stomach discomfort- some from IBS some from meds and some from both. I don't go sometimes for days then I am really uncomfortable. Others can stop going. You can have your doctor know about it. They may want to run tests but it wouldn't be uncommon that the IBS has resurfaced!

I go from one extreme to the next! I go for days without anything. Then other days I go 4 or 5 times. Since I never get much sleep I am always up late and I try to sleep in the next day. So, a lot of times I'm still trying to sleep at 2pm. When I do get up I have to wait a while before I eat anything or I get those terrible pains. I compare them to labor. I've never had kids but I can only imagine the pain.

I was dx with IBS 15 years ago. But suffered with this as long as I can remember. It DOES feel like labor, the cramps. I've had children and I see no difference in the pains (except with IBS, there is nothing materializing)

Stay away from dairy as much as you can. Check into holistic options.

I was DX with IBS also, many Moons ago

My son will be 19 in March & it was shortly after he was born. It got to the point it was so bad that it caused anal fissures One of the worst pains I ever experienced in my life

Finally after 7yrs or so of off & on pain I saw a Proctologist, he checked my Moon & I had surgery.

I still have the IBS, but having the surgery was one of the best things I ever did, now when I have to go at least it's not painful & I don't keep tearing myself.

IBS is one of the symptoms of fibro. Most of us will have this problem.
I have dystonia, neuropathy, gerd, arthritis, and fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel and other ailments. I enjoy embroidery, music, and reading my Bible and Christian books. I love to bake. I try to be very supportive and positive.

Unfortunately, IBS comes with Fibromyalgia. It is true about dairy. Any time I would have it, I couldn't stop have "labor pains" and going to the bathroom. I do not put anything dairy in my system anymore and even though I have IBS, it is not as bad.

Wow, I had IBS as a child and was dx. with fibro as a teen. do you think IBS could be one of the early warning signs of fibro? I have 3 kids and I'm always on the watch or signs of fibro. I have pretty much cut out dairy too. It was hard but it helps. I take the asodolfulsu (I murdered that word) the stuff in yogurt, it helps too.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel -- but it's a train about to run over you.
