I have been walking on a treadmill for only 20 min. I also started Physical Therapy to help my posture. I am in a stress reduction group.

I have been aware of the extreme tightness in my muscles and I HATE IT.

I take hot baths, stretch, and do breathing exercises.

Does anyone experience the same? Or have any other suggestions on loosening tight muscles?

You could ask your doctor about muscle relaxers. Also some over the counter muscle rubs may help. Also put some epsom salts in your hot bath and soak in it for a while. That's about all I can think of.
I am not a doctor. Please consult with your doctor before following any advice given by myself or anyone else on this or any other forum.

Muscle relaxants help me too and also trigger point therapy.
Favorite Poem :
It is such a relief when you first find out.
That the pain really does have a name,
And then you will ask (and everyone does),
"Just where can i place all the blame".
No matter the limits, no matter the pain,
There's no evil, cruel "Master Plan".
It just simply happens, It just simply is.
You adapt, and you change what you can.
But even with the knowing the best and the worst,
All the pitfalls the future could hold,
You still have a choice, you quit or you fight.
You determine the story that's told.
And every small step that we take, my dear friends,
Each battle that we slowly win,
Just credits the love and the caring we share
With the FMily that we call our friends.

I have to take muscle relaxers for the stiffness and knotting up, it does help. That is unless I get a huge knot in my neck that goes from my head to my shoulder then it takes several days to get rid of it.

My muscles get really tight too. I use massage therapy, hot baths with salts, hot showers, hot water bottle, heating blanket, topical pain lotion with capsian, or gentle stretching.

Oh and I can't afford it right now, but accupressure was also a help.

Oh man, right up my alley djdrew. By the way, nice to see you posting!!

I have tight muscles all over my body; however, my legs are the worst. My right leg has gotten so bad that it has actually atrophyed and I walk tippy toe on that leg. Every once in awhile I can get it stretched out to semi walk on my foot, but not very often.

I find that heat is the best reliever for me. My heated mattress pad and long hot showers seem to do the best for me. I also get it a lot in my upper back/neck and shoulder blade area. Heat helps there as well.

Good to hear from you.

Hugs,

Kay

This is going to sound so overly simple, but there is an OTC product that I now swear by ~ ActivOn. It comes in a stick and as the commercial says you "apply it where it hurts". I carry it with me always. Of course, the problem is, some days it hurts everywhere, lol. But seriously, this stuff works almost immediately and the relief is very noticable.

Wow Mispati, I am jealous. I tried ActiveOn and it felt like I had put acid on my skin. Of coure I should have known better with my reactions to things. I do know people that swear by it, but no such luck for me Sad
