nerve conductive test?

also, does every new doctor you see want to run their own batteries of tests before they put you down as having fibromyalgia?

I'm not sure what I had done, it was some kind of nerve conduction test. They hooked little electrodes to my feet and legs in various places and shocked the shit out of me. Felt like I kept getting zapped by static, you know, like in the winter time. In my case, they were trying to determine how much sensation loss I had in my feet and if I had peripheral neuropathy (I do).

I mean... it wasn't like having surgery without anesthesia... but it wasn't fun either. Like I said, like lots of static electric zaps. But I don't know if that's the same kind of test they'll do to you.

I am not a medical doctor and any medical opinion I give is based on personal experience and/or research. It is not intended to suppliment or replace your doctor. Follow at your own risk.

No, I haven't had this type of test or any other test. I went to a Neurologist and to a Rheumy. And got the same diagnosis of Fibro.

And this was 3 yrs ago.

I've had several NCVs and an EMG done. They aren't all that fun, but not that horrible either. Obviously I would do them again if needed, but wouldn't call in asking for one because it was just super fun.

As for the tests, I've been going to the same doc now for several years. I have been at that hospital with multiple drs running the same tests when they are on the screen already. My dx was 12-13 years ago. I will say that I repeat an ANA, RF factor, lupus test, Sjorgens test, thyroid test, etc at least twice a year because those numbers CAN and sometimes do change. Even from morning to night so they like to keep an eye on it if you have any similar symptoms.
