My husband and I are hosting a get together for some of his co-workers... there will be drinking. I'm on day 35 without a drink... but so scared I'm gonna sneak it when noone is looking- it's what I do ... my sad joke again is that I'm German, Scotch-Irish and Native American... bred to be a drunk... i don't want to drink.... but I kind of want to drink... I took my meds as a deterent- but part of my brain says- now I only need a little drink to feel groovy... So tired of my sick brain. I'm manic right now so my mind is racing and thoughts are kind of jumbling together- a drink would calm them a little... I don't want to be a failure- haven't called my sponsor in over a week... bad girl! Haven't been going to meetings because my step daughter was here... not an excuse... just a reason... K... just seeking support thoughts or prayers... Thank you all. it all started compressed

Awww, who is the little cutie, bfly ? Sweetheart !!! Smile

Maybe you should call your sponsor tomorrow and discuss what will be happening over the weekend. A week is a long time to go without contact, isn t it ? Especially this early in your recovery ~~~

Please know that we are all here for you whenever you need to talk ~~~ I am always available for PM s from any member here regarding any topic.

Continued prayers for you success ~~~ Keep us up-dated !!!

Oh goodness, I misread your initial post, thinking the get-together was this coming weekend.

I m behind you all the way, bfly ~~~ Will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way that the ""drink"" is not so tempting after all.

Bfly,

Think of what you have accomplished the last 35 days! With all that behind you, you don't want to cave in now. You are strong, and you can get through this. I too, thought it was later, didn't know it was right now. You can do this!! Just remember, one day, one minute at a time. Don't think about the whole night, just each moment by itself. You have come too far to blow it now. You don't want to start over. Can you get away and call your sponsor in another room? Be strong..I'll be here for a few hours, if you need me, pm me right away! HUGS May God give you the strength to beat this, and cast away the temptation!

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Bfly, I don't know how it's going, but no matter what, you are going to achieve your goals someday. It's all learning.

You can do this bfly, the suggestion to call your sponsor from another room is a great idea. Maybe you could also excuse yourself to the restroom for a few minutes if the temptation gets to you. A few minutes away to help get your mind back to your goal of not drinking will hopefully help you. Way to go on the 35 days Smile
