I haven't been able to sleep for over 4 days. If you have seen my previous posts this week then you may know that I have been under a lot of stress.. and pms.. and flares of both my fibro and IBS. Almost had to go to the hospital the other night for abdominal pain but I just ended up taking dilaudid and suffering through it. Last night my roommate and best friend had to be taken to the emergency room and of course I went with her because she needed someone. I was up all night with her and still havent slept from that. Now I am at work and I am literally hallucinating while trying to go my job. I keep hearing things and seeing shadows and what I imagine to be figures when there is no one here. I have been trying to hide out in another department where I am not in front of house (I work in a hotel) because I called in but they wouldnt let me take the day off. I am just not able to be conversing with guests as I cant even fake the happy face. I just want to crawl into a hole.

I guess my question is.. do any of you get this bad? Flare ups and then having such bad deprivation that you end up hallucinating? I'm really starting to freak out...

There was only once I ever hallucinated from being so tired. But yes, I've been there. I was doing a very long night drive from Pheonix AZ to Denver CO, and I couldn't go thru 4 corners as a mountain pass I had to go over in Colorado was closed due to snow. So I had to take the long way and go thru monument valley to pick up I-70 in Utah and take that to Denver. Added about 3 hours to my trip.

There I am, eastbound on I-70 going thru Glenwood Canyon. For anyone who hasn't been thru there (it's BEAUTIFULO btw) it's very narrow, where a river (the Colorado) has cut a canyon thru the mountains. It's so narrow, that the interstate can't be side-by-side (for east and west bound lanes). Westbound is a bridge built directly above the eastbound side. Then there's still a drop off to the river below you.

While I was driving along, middle of the night, I SWEAR I saw a sign that read "if you're afraid of heights, I advice you don't look down." Well, yes, I'm afraid of heights. But I knew the section of road and knew it didn't have any such sign. So the next spot that was big enough for me to pull off, the chain up area on top of Vale Summit, I pulled off the road and went to bed. I knew there wasn't a sign there, but I would've sworn I'd seen it.

Scarey as all hell. Try to get some sleep when you get home. You definately need it!

Ive been trying to sleep but for whatever reason I am having another bout of insomnia. I have no sleeping pills left to try to recalibrate my sleep schedule so I just end up laying there for the entire night trying to sleep and then living through my day like I am now feeling like I am crazy lol

I had a really rough "morning". Went to bed about 4am. All night, I kept tossing and turning. I'm a side sleeper. My left hip was hurting so bad, I couldn't lay on that side, and my right side was tired of me laying on it. Wound up on my back a lot, and I hate sleeping on my back.

I finally had to get up. I didn't want to, I was still very tired and exhausted. But I needed to pee, get some pain meds, and get something to eat. Otherwise, I'd STILL be in bed.

But the tramadol is kicked in now, and it's dulled from a scream to a throaty whimper (still isn't a whisper, but it's tolerable). I'm stiffer than usual this afternoon, moving like a 90 year old. I got a TV dinner to microwave, because I'm in no shape to stand at the stove and cook something. Dinner will probably be a sandwich for the same reason.

I have got to ask the doc for something stronger than flexiril for sleep. Maybe some ambien or amytriptiline. Something, anything!

I'm not on anything for pain or sleep right now. It's been rough. They're still worried about the side effects that messed up my body. They are sending me to a fibro clinic whenever I get through the waiting list. It's been hell trying to cope with the flares with nothing other than dilaudid, muscle relaxers and Advil. I just want to sleep. Being around this many people (working in the hotel) is making me want to go into a hole and not come out for a while. There is still an hour left of this shift and I don't know how I am going to make it through that

5 minutes at a time. Hell, 2 minutes at a time. Look at your watch. Think "I can make it thru the next 5 minutes. That's ALL i have to do, is make it thru 5 minutes."

Then when that 5 minutes is up, tell yourself, "that wasn't quite as bad as I thought. I'll try another 5 minutes. Just 5 more minutes." and work on getting thru only 5 minutes.

Don't look at the hour, that's too hard for you right now. Make it smaller bites. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. You're going to make it thru the hour by 5 minutes at a time. Then it'll be time to go home, and you can take your meds and go to bed if that's what you need to do.

Remember. You're only going to make it thru the next 5 minutes.

The elephant comment made me both laugh and tear a little. Laugh because it is adorable, tear because you care enough to make an adorable elephant reference Tongue. I'm currently hiding in a closet taking a breather because being around all these people make me want to scream. Just taking my time and messaging you guys on my phone. Taking it 5 minutes at a time. I feel like I'm 80 years old lol

For sleep, I take amatryptaline and melatonin. It worked great for a while, but seems to be less effective lately. Melatonin is very inexpensive and it helps me get to sleep which is the hardest part for me.
