MDJunction to me

Hazeldee"MDJunction means that I no longer have to feel like I am the only person in
the world with pericarditis. It means that I can talk to others who know
how stressful and how painful having pericarditis can be. It means that I
connect with others to discuss treatments that have or haven't worked for us, so that we have a leg to stand on. I think that having my friends at
MDJunction has allowed me to better mentally and emotionally process my
diagnosis and what it means to me. I feel so lucky to have this community
available to me. I use MDJunction as a way to use my experience to help
others. Reaching out to help others is the only solace I have found since
being diagnosed with pericarditis.

I am Butrans Free!!! I can't tell you how excited I am!!! I never thought I could get off of it that easily...and here I am... And absolutely no cravings!!!!! No more withdrawal symptoms!!! I am so proud of myself, and want others to know that when you put your mind to something, like controlling which prescription drugs to take, you have the power!!!

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, idk, or maybe my pain doctor was just really good and gave me what I needed to help with the process. This feeling is priceless!!

Am I stil in pain? Gosh yes, but now this will open doors for me to try other approaches...doctors would not treat me while I was on the patch, they wouldn't allow certain meds......now the skies the limit!

My fibro life is just a little bit better now, bc I've learned that I am in control of my destiny!!!!

Thanks for listening, and hopefully this post will help others in a similar situation! Julz. Smile

Be well in mind and spirit even though your body fights you daily with pain....love and light. Julz.

Hi, I am so happy that you have reached this goal in the process of fibromyalgia and way to go girl more power to you and to us. Little question I am on Fentynil Patches or Duragesic is another name for them but they are patches and are narcotics and have been on them for 8 years + and at the time that I started this drug I was under the supervision of a pain clinic doctor and I use to see him once a month and would monitor my progress and life was bearable. about 6 years ago I moved to where I am now in the boom docks and I have a family doctor that does not really believe in this ailment but keeps my prescription up I then was taken over by a doctor who opened a pain clinic and I was referred there and he saw me regularly to renew my prescription and give me spinal injections with a cocktail in it but the doc was under investigation and was no more, now I am waiting to be taken into charge by another doctor but hes been around for a while and does believe in fibro now I am waiting for a MRI of my spine and another one for my cervix and then when he gets results he will be able to see what treatment he will go with but at this point I dont give a damn I am in severe pain most of the time, I have withdrawal symptons many days in the month, My first encounter with this doc went very well but its been 2 1/2 months and still no sign of getting my MRI but I mentioned to him when he ask what I want out of seeing him and I replied I just want to get off of these narcotics they are destroying my life I can hardly function I take 75mg every 2 days of these patches (I thought I had did quite well last year when I went from 150 mg - 2 days to 75mg it was a big accomplishment but I just dont want that stuff in my body but I am so scared of the withdrawal symptoms so my question to you is do you think these are the same patches as yours and if yes than I think I might have a chance anyway I m so sorry that I vented like that I get so upset when I think of all the meds that I am taking it just drives me crazy, I fall asleep everywhere except in bed, I hardly eat and Im still overweight a bit, i have been off work now for 5 years because I use to get fibro fog so bad I was so disoriented at times it was nt funny, and its a hard blow on your moral when you have been working for over 40 years and you are told that maybe I should stay home with my sick husband ( the girl was nice and did that so I could get my unemployment insurance benefits) but you feel like shit (sorry for the language) but that how you feel. O.K. thats enough Linda well all in all I am happy that your withdrawal process went fine and you are off of those patches, congrats to you and keep up the good work and thanks for listening to me rant and rave about my problem.

Julzy,

Way to go! I was just wondering how you were doing. You are super woman. I, for one, am cheering you on. I'd tell ya to pat yourself on the back, but that could be painful:+], so, treat yourself kindly.

Your fan,

Lisa

Julzy, CONGRATULATIONS!! I know getting off that patch has really been worrying you! I'm so glad you aren't having any bad reactions or withdrawals. Sometimes, it's the worry that kills us, not what we're worrying about!

Choco, hon, No, they aren't the same medicine. I don't know anything about the patches you're on. If you're worried about it, can you talk to your doctor about cutting them down, or getting off them? Personally, if it was me, and I wanted off them, I'd take the patch and cut slivers off, and every time or every other time I put one on, I'd cut a little more off (making it smaller and thus lower dose) and I'd do this gradually over a period of months. The problem with this approach, is that if your doctor isn't on board, they can't up any other medication to compensate for the reduction of pain meds via the patch. You'd need to up oral dosages or switch to another patch to treat your pain. Some of the others might have suggestions, but the only I could tell you to do would be to discuss getting off the patch with your doctor and seeing what he/she recommended.

I am not a medical doctor and any medical opinion I give is based on personal experience and/or research. It is not intended to suppliment or replace your doctor. Follow at your own risk.

Hi Choco im on the fentanyl patch as well but im on 50 mgs per patch. You can't interfere or cut the patch at all because that can cause the full dosage to be absorbed at once and so can kill you so don't do that. The doctor can and will take your dosage down slowly so as any withdrawl is kept to a bare minimum if thats what you want, i wish you luck and hope you suceed if this is what you want. And Julzy wtg girl xxxx
