MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

I just slept 14 hours.

I went to bed at 1:45am this morning. I slept hard til noon when hubby's alarm clock went off. I laid there thinking about getting up, and dozed back off. For the next 4 hours, I'd wake up, think about getting up, and then doze back off for 10-20 minutes. Rinse, repeat.

Considering I just slept 14 hours.... how in the heck is it that I'm so tired and worn out??

I know I haven't been sleeping well lately, and probably have a sleep deficiet that I still need to make up... but DAMN!!

How can I have slept that long and still be tired? I know CFS is worse for me than the pain of Fibro... but SHEESH!!

I wish I could sleep half that amount of time. I am so tired all the time.

The fatigue is horrendous. I agree. Being sleepy and feeling fatigued are totally different. Being fatigued is like a totally drained no energy feeling. I have that every day too. The whole thing just plain sucks.

I don't ever feel rested. I could lay in bed forever and I would still be tired.

Hope that you can sleep tonight. UGH! Whistling

GOOD IN BED

You actually can sleep too much. Crazy sounding I know. But possible.

Oh, I know it's possible, I just usually don't have that problem. My sleep cycles are getting more and more "off" in the last few months. I may sleep 4 hours one night, be up 24 or even 28 or 30 hours, then crash and burn for 14-16. This may happen at any hour of the day or night.

Part of it is hubs is on a evening shift and gets home at about 1:15am. Part of it is I don't have a job, have no reason to get up at a certain time, and thus can sleep when sleepy, and be up when awake, no matter what hour of the day or night.

I had a CPAP titration done for a pulmonologist last month. Still haven't been told the results. So I'm going in to see him next Monday. He ordered it cause my blood oxygen sats were below 90%. But he's not a sleep doc... He can prescribe a new machine set at a higher level (long story, mine still works, but it's continuous, and I can't keep my mask on at the new higher pressure, so we got to go thru new mask and stuff). But he can't look at the sleep study and see if I"m getting into stage 4 sleep and how long I'm there. Probably going to have to find a sleep doc, once I find out what the pulmonologist wants to do about my oxygen levels at night.

I know all about CFS... but it still seems crazy to sleep that long and still be tired. I know, I know, it's part of the condition. Mostly because we don't get to stage 3&4 sleep. But it's still CRAZY.

I think that you might want to start making yourself a schedule. Set the alarm to go to bed(whatever time you choose) and an alarm to get up 7 or 8 hours later. Even if you can't sleep, still lay down. Since you don't have anywhere to be you can pick whatever time you like. If you want to stay up and go to bed with the hubby, set the alarm for when he goes to bed and gets up. Not promising that will help, but I've been told and read that having that schedule is very important even if you don't have anywhere to go.

I have too Hat, and the Rheumy has said basically the same thing. But it's not only a matter of going to bed when sleepy. It's like in the evening, or rather late at night, I become a zombie. I don't even think of going to bed til I'm falling asleep. My mind may even be asleep already, just my body isn't yet. I may even think of going to bed... but I just don't have the gumption to turn the computer off and head to bed.

I tried setting the alarm to go to bed at a certain time... and it never worked! I just ignored it or hit the snooze button.

I'm telling ya, I have weird sleep. Sometimes I'll feel good when waking up, adn other times, feel really slow and sluggish.

Crazy!

Your sleep cycle sounds like mine... hubby has even asked how can you sleep for 3 days straight and still be tired.... I don't know but it sure happens and is very very frustrating.. then go to the next extreme of not sleeping at all..... just keep praying for a miracle cure!
