Hey guys!

I know I've read about Fibro Fog. I have been experiencing that. I forget what I'm saying mid sentence. I forget what I am walking to while I walk to it. I was wondering if anyone has tips on how to keep sane through the Fibro fog.

Also I have been noticing that I've been dropping things a lot. I have it in my hand then all of sudden I drop it. I am not sure why. Sometimes my hand is hurting so my grip may be compromised but other times I can't see why I dropped it. I was wondering if anyone has this problem. I'm new to Fibro, and not sure if this is normal.

Thanks,

Kelly Ann

Looking for my new normal!

Yes this is also common with fibro. But I also have arthritis, so I have a hard time closing buttons on my blouses or picking up small items. Look at old postings and you will see this there. Its good to meet you, but sorry its like this. Take care and ask lots of question, because this is one way you will learn.

Take care. Olga

What you are describing is pretty normal Fibro to me also ~~~

I have been noticing a lot of dysfunction with my hands and fingers and dr. says it s not arthritis etc. Some days they even hurt so bad I m almost afraid to pick anything up due to pain or fear of dropping it. Some days it is even hard to hold a pen to write anything.

Time and patience will help you but you will have to learn it at your own pace ....

As for the fog, you are definitely not alone. It seems the more I have on my mind, the harder it is to get everything done in a timely manner or sometimes I even completely forget. Sad

I can forget mid sentance too, what I was talking about. I used to be able to keep a whole grocery list in my head. Now, I go to the store after one thing, come home with $100 worth of stuff and NOT the one thing I went after!

Fibro fog has been really hard for me to deal with. There's times where I just can't remember things or I get so scatter brained I can't find anything. My boyfriend and I have a mental list of things we run down to make sure I take everything I need to work with me. I've also noticed a loss of dexterity in my hands. I used to be really good at working with small stuff, but not so much anymore. My typing skills have gone downhill. I used to make jewelry, but had to stop because I kept dropping tools and parts. It's all very frustrating.

Welcome to the group... Sorry ya have to be here but here is a great place to be!

Mines gettin worse of late. Especially walking to a room and totally forgetting what I went in there for, or thinking of a grocery list item and forgetting what to write when I get to the list... Sticky notes are my friends... And at least I can still do the trick where u walk back to the place I was when I thought of it and eventually remember. You are not alone hun.

Thank you guys. I have a diaper bag that I use to keep everything I need to work. This way I can not have to worry about packing it everyday. I have a chalk board that right notes on to make sure that I can talk to Tim (my boyfriend) about or things that I need to do. I also have note pads that I write things that are important to remember. I really hope this system works. Luckily Tim doesn't always have the great memory so he doesn't get annoyed with me repeating myself. LOL Laughing

Kelly,

The forgetting words in mid sentence was actually one of the early warnings that something was wrong, before I ever got diagnosed. I used to be able to remember everything, and now...not so much. My long term memory is still intact, but the short term is shot. I hate it when I'm trying to talk seriously, and I can't remember what I was gonna say, or I get stuck on one word.

I also drop things a lot. 2 or 3 times dropping the same item is not unusual for me. I hate it cuz I always have to bend over several times to pick it up. You are not alone. HUGS

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

HI, welcome! Yup, the fog is a pain--I lose words. So I flap my hands to "fill in" the word. Strangely, many people who know me can figure it out...the fumble fingers are also weird, but part of our friend Fibro!
