I got a doggie to be my companion while home alone with the fibro. Apt. manager said she was too big and that I will be evicted if I keep her. I brought her back to the pound. If I was healthier I swear I would have lived in my car till I could find another place that I could keep her. She "herded" me 24/7 viligantly as I was her "sheep" She was just a few pounds over the limit. I hope she finds a lovely family and doesn't get put down. I feel like such a traitor to her devotion even though we were together for just a few weeks. People have little dogs in other units who are VERY noisy. Low Poundage does not equal Good Behavior. My daughters want me to get another smaller dog right away, but love does not work that way. She was my friend, not my possession. She got me to walk twice a day. Now I just can't get up the motivation without her to care for. That is what companion animals do. I know I could have fought it by getting a Dr. to say I needed her, but I was just too tired. I feel like such a loser and such a coward. I still have my wonderful cat (who is, of course elated that the dog is gone Dizzy ) this is the last week of school for my ex students. I checked scores, and they did terribly on their final exams. My fault again, for not being there for them. Well, thanks for listening to me piss and moan. I promise to try to be more positive next time. (Another thing for feeling alone - my youngest daughter is in the military and just left home after a 3 week visit. She will be on a ship. I got interviewed for her top secret clearance. Do parents ever say bad stuff out their kids in these interviews?Dizzy I might not see her again for 2 years, unless I can manage to get to Boston when she has another leave. Since I'm in Los Angeles (more or less) and traver is so difficult for me - well, you seel the problem. If it seems I care more about the dog than the kid, well, I think that is called sublimination of emotions.... I hope I can get to know some of you in the group better and have some good conversations... Becky aka GnosiswomanBlink Blink

Psalm 91

My Refuge and My Fortress

91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my refuge—
10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder;
the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
15 When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long lifrwill I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

you are right. that is what I should do. but I doubt I will. I already have the manager looking for a reason to evict me since I flooded the place because in a fibro fog I forgot to put the washer hose in the drain.(see earlier post) I never used to be a coward - as a matter of fact, I was the one those around me turned to for support. I'm going to talk to the vet, etc., and try to find her a good home (listing at the vet offices, newspapers, etc.) I can't afford to move, and I can't afford the unwanted attentions of the apt. manager at this time. It is what it is. Thank you for your excellent advice though.

There's a self esteem group?? I may have to join tht one myself.

I'm so sorry about the dog hon. My little Paco passed away in November, so I know how terrible it is to loose an animal. He was a rescue and I wasn't even going to keep him, but after nursing him back to health, there was no way he was going anywhere.

I would agree with your daughter tho. I know it's not the same, but a new dog would give you something to focus on, instead of being lonely and depressed, and would give you that need to take walks and stuff. It would be better for your physical health, and your mental health, even if love does take more time.

I hope things get better hon.

I am not a medical doctor and any medical opinion I give is based on personal experience and/or research. It is not intended to suppliment or replace your doctor. Follow at your own risk.

you are blue, alot of things leaving you, your daughter your comfort and your health..I understand why you are not going to fight it,but what about a smaller dog? I know you were attatched to the one you had,but you need something to occupy your time...the dog gave you the insentive to go out,

you need to pick your self by the boot straps,and feel better..

we all have alot to give if one gets the help then some of this suffering is worth it..

remeber I am not a doctor I just say what I think

I'm an Advocate

{{{Becky}}} I am sorry to hear what you are going thru re: losing your precious furbaby. That seems so terribly unfair !!! Being an animal lover myself (and just in April losing our Buddy Beagle), I understand when you say you aren t ready for another baby just yet. It will come in time, I m sure, but each one leaves pawprints in our hearts, for sure.

Please thank your daughter for her service to our country ~~~ I know you are proud but I am sure it is hard to know you won t see her for quite awhile.

I look forward to getting to know you better ~~~ Smile

Marilyn
