I am new to this site and I wanted to ask a question. I am in pain constantly and never really have a good day. I have alot of pain in my rear end and knees. My shoulders, arms and other points do not hurt as much. I have constant weakness to the point of when I go down stairs my legs shake. I am going to the Cleveland Clinic on Friday again to give more blood and probably no answers with more pills. I am wondering if anyone else has dailly pain to this extent. To close I would like to add that my left ear has tngled and intchs non stop. If I told this to just anyone they would think I am a hypochondriac but I know what I feel and just want to find out what I have so I can go on with my life. Any information would be helpfull.Sad

I'm an Advocate

leefamily, welcome! I'm so glad you found us.

Personally, I have pain every day. Some days are better, some days are unbearable, but I am never w/o pain.

My rear end recently got in on the act, too, lol! My knees are a recent addition to my pain inventory.

Here's a link to a recent discussion about various symptoms. It is by no means all inclusive.

Have you been dx'd with FM or is it one of the things on the table?

Please keep us apprised of what's going on with your appointment, and by all means, jump right in to the discussions where ever you'd like.

I've had the rearend pain. Have them check your coccyx (tailbone)

I broke mine when I was young and every once in awhile I won't be able to sit on anything. Since I got older, I've had problems with my knees and going down stairs, Seems they don't want to bend at the right time and they pop.

leefamily5, you are not alone. I live with chronic pain, too. My pain never goes away. I think I've lived with chronic pain since 1998. I've been misdiagnosed until 2006 and I wasn't given any pain meds until then! My pain level has increased over the years and sometimes it becomes unbearable that I cannot even sleep at night. Simple, easy things like watching TV also becomes impossible with severe pain in the left side of my face/jaw (nerve pain/TMJ).

My entire body hurts constantly. For me, the face/jaw/neck/shoulders/arms/hands hurt the most. The pain in my upper body is more severe and intense(like if needles/sharp objects digging in my muscles) while pain in the lower body is dull.

You are not a hypochondriac. Most FM patients are labeled like that because people, even MDs don't understand this illness. I've also been told that I was hypochondriac or neurotic. People who didn't know me before FM thought I was just lazy and trying to get attention! I used to be a very active, driven, happy, and confident person until I got sick.

I've gotten so much better - I used to be bed-ridden several yrs ago. I had to change my diet, life style, and attitude/thoughts to get healthier so I can manage pain better. I had to learn to avoid certain foods (processed foods, artificial chemicals, sugar, etc), slow myself down (do only what my body can handle), and think positively(keeping hope to get better) although this is the hardest thing to do when you are in severe chronic pain! I am still fighting with FM everyday and I think about suicide often but I still keep going. This group has helped me tremendously to keep that hope going. I hope the group helps you, too...

I think most of us could fill a novel with all our symptoms. My legs shake on stairs, and sometimes on level ground. My pain is always there. It moves around a bit, but is usually worse in certain areas. The weakness also is worse at times than others, but it's always there somewhere. You won't be called a hypochondriac around here. You should see some of our lists of problems. I hope you like it here and feel at home.
I am not a doctor. Please consult with your doctor before following any advice given by myself or anyone else on this or any other forum.

Favorite Poem :
It is such a relief when you first find out.
That the pain really does have a name,
And then you will ask (and everyone does),
"Just where can i place all the blame".
No matter the limits, no matter the pain,
There's no evil, cruel "Master Plan".
It just simply happens, It just simply is.
You adapt, and you change what you can.
But even with the knowing the best and the worst,
All the pitfalls the future could hold,
You still have a choice, you quit or you fight.
You determine the story that's told.
And every small step that we take, my dear friends,
Each battle that we slowly win,
Just credits the love and the caring we share
With the FMily that we call our friends.

You know I can't even begin to list my symptoms because I will get determined to finish and I may never stop. No hypochondriac just sick.
