Hey everyone!

Ok I just feel like venting right now...lol something everyone has to do from time to time. Anyways, it's so frustrating how people can be so close minded! First off I'm in a lot of pain and stress this week so I'm probably a little edgy and that's why my friends and parents are bothering me right now, but grrrr there are days that people make me so angry!

Ok starting with today after my math exam (which went wonderful by the way ) my friend made me so mad! Something came up about my pain management classes that I've been taking and then she walked in and was all like "oh ya what is that fibro thing... that's the one there where people make up this fake pain thing" so I was in just complete shock!!! I didn't even respond I was in so much disbelief... She is a very nice person most of the time but I guess that she can become overly opinionated at times! So now I'm going to have to talk to her and explain exactly what FMS is next time I see her (hopefully I'll be in a better mood lol)

Then to make things worse my bus didn't come to pick me up at school today (I'm the only one who takes that bus) so I had to call my parents to come get me and I live an hour away so i was stuck in the cold for an hour(ps it's cold here in canada )! Then when I got home I guess my father saw me limping and was all like "oh well aren't you such an old lady!" grrrr he can be so frustrating at times... just last week I tried to show them a discription of FMS that I found on this site... my mother said she was going to read it but them my dad was like "oh the more you read it the more you think you have this so called syndrom" I just wanted to yell at him and say well maybe I actually have it dad, and that's why I'm reading up on it so I can understand it better!

but of coarse I didn't say anything because I have not once raised my voice at my parents... well anyone really. I'm always a very calm and cool person and I save all my frustration to vent at one time like now when I know I'm not going to hurt anyones feelings... I've always been good at holding my anger and frustration back until an appropiate time

Anyways so ya those were the main things that I really just wanted to rant about but now I'm kinda making a very long post so I think it's best I stop here. so thanks for letting me vent to you guys!

Thanks in advance for your understanding! I luv you guys!

I'm so glad you have this sight, you poor thing. I'm positive that I've had CMP for years and then fibro. I remember once my friends father told me I was too young to have a backache. Well, that was along time ago. I was 17 then. 52 now. But I'm saying there was no internet for me to research anything. I just thought I was being whiny or there was something abnormal about me. So I'm so glad that you have the internet and this site. I pray someday your parents will get it. Heck, it's taking along time for my family to "get it". But they're starting to come around. I know they love me. And I'm sure your parents love you very much. They'll come around. And forget about that girl. In the big picture, she will probably be a small dot in your life. Concentrate on yourself. I hope you did well on your math exam

Sorry kiddo. That does sound like a rough day. Isn't it great that we have a place to vent? I hope you can set your friends and your dad straight. Maybe mom is the place to start. Have her read up on it, and then talk to your dad. Are the doctors in Canada generally accepting of FM or do they think its fake? I know that in the states it just depends on the area. Hang in there.

Hey thanks for the support!

It's great to have this site to vent! As for the docs here I'm really not all to sure I guess it's the same as in the states. It all depends on the doctor you have, I know that mine is pretty understanding, but I've come across a few that think it's nonsense! So it all depends on the individual doctor and how well they are educated. I also find that age (please don't get offended anyone) has a large part to play because some of the newer doctors are being educated with this new research and some of the older docs are sticking to what they were taught to begin with, so it's hard to change what they were brought up with. So it always depends.

Again thanks for the support and great advice!

As for my exams I hope my chem is going to go as well as my other exams that I've already done! Last exam wednesday!

Congrats on your exams! Keep up the good work. Yes, some doctors are very set in there ways. I'm glad I have a rheumatologist and a G.P. that are both supportive. Haven't figured out how to help me really, but always listen and are willing to learn more. You seem like a very together 17 yr. old. by the way!

lol thanks I've been told that alot... I guess I'm very mature for my age. It's great to hear that your GP and rheumatologist are so supportive, really that's what makes the difference in the end even if they can't find a way to help you that much, at least they are there for you.

Sar, I am aso glad you found this site. It's good to get the emotions out so your body doesn't hold on to them & make you hurt worse. You are smart for doing the research that you are. You are your best advocate. It sounds like your mom is pretty understanding, so I agree to start there and educate her. Then you can have her as another support when others don't seem to get it. You may have to do some re-educating at times, but don't fret. We are always here for you to help with any questions or frustrations you have.

I give you kudos for staying as strong as you are. Taking exams is hard enough without the fibro. Sounds like you are handling things the best you can. Keep your chin up!

You sound like a very wise young lady. Don't give up on your parents, educate them as much as possible as well as your friends. And remember you always have us to come to on those days when nobody seems to understand you. Good luck on all your tests!!!
