MDJunction to me

nvrsubtle"Not having any local Bipolar support groups where I live, MDJuntion has given me a place in which people understand what I am going through and has given me a new outlook on life with support that is real and good. Without
the support that I receive from MDJunction, I would be wandering through
life with no one who understands me. I owe so much to MDJunction for giving
me a life line to help get me through the toughest times.

I have a question for y'all. Do you know exactly what the awareness ideas are supposed to be. What I mean is this. Is it to let people know more about it(the reality vs lyrica commercials) or is it to let more people know about the generalities of the illness? I mean I get the rare diseases and awareness days but I'm not sure what they do for well known things. Is it like breast cancer awareness? The get checked, get your mammograms, etc stuff and raise money for research?

In 2004 the National Fibromyalgia Association established the Legislative Proclamation Program. We are proud to carry this program forward and recognize its significance in establishing legislative acknowledgement of fibromyalgia. The purpose of this outreach program is to get officials to declare May 12 as Fibromyalgia Awareness Day in their jurisdiction. Because of the efforts of numerous support groups and individuals, this Legislative Proclamation Program has succeeded in bringing awareness to fibromyalgia at all levels of government, from mayors and governors to the president of the United States. (Click here for a list of Proclamations that have been received.)

Was that an answer to my question or just some info? Cause if so, it still didn't help me figure it out. But thanks for trying. If not, then sorry for this post.
