MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

I am so sorry I have not been on here much lately! But I have a story...Two weeks ago, my grandfather passed away. It was very sad but we were happy that he was back with my Grandmother who died in September. Ever since her death I have had a hard time getting my Fibro under control, I switched meds, and then was dealing with some other health stuff. Needless to say I missed some work...but I was only part time and was able to make my own hours. My stuff was always done on time! Well, when my grandfather died, we had to travel to MS to make the arrangements and for the funeral.

This is the part that makes me mad....

On the way to my Grandfather's funeral, I call work to tell them about the arrangements and let them know when I would be back. My boss preceeds to fire me! I was on the way to my Grandpa's funeral! He said that because I had come unreliable because of my Fibromyalgia. I can understand that...but on the way to a funeral. He could have been a little more considerate! Sorry guys...Just needed to vent! I'm feeling sorry for myself!

What a jerk. I hope you can find something that is better for you. Sounds like an inconsiderate place. Funerals should not be an excuse for firing. It is not like it wasnt a relative or something. I am sorry for your losses.

What an a*****e. I know there was a post some time back about someone else who was fired because of her fibro. i can't believe that they can get away with firing you for your health though. I hope you are able to find something soon. I am sorry to hear about your grandfather

Well I wasn't fired but I quit my job because my employer of 3 years started getting on my case because I needed to see the doctor. I had no history of missing much work until I started to flareup. I only missed a few days.

I'm so sorry for you- it is all the worse you were going to the funeral. It is easy to say "forget about your jerky boss" but not so easily done. I still am dealing with some guilt that maybe if I didn't have fibro- I'd still be working. HOWEVER- none of us should feel guilty about how this condition affects us- I have to keep reminding myself that.

What is comes down to is they don't get why most of us look healthy but can't perform like they think we should. I sure hope someday fibro will be more understood but for now all of us just have to hang in there.

I am sorry too, for your loss and the way you were treated. I'm not all that sure your boss can legally do that.

Im with Petey I dont think they can fire you over a funneral, I know when my mom passed away my son had to take an Obit from the paper back to prove he had took time off for the funneral. I would be checking into it, if you want that job that is, judy
