I received an e-mail from the NFA regarding an Associated Press article and their response to that article. It's worth reading...

The Associated Press article by Matthew Perrone (February 8, 2009, Drugmakers push boosts ‘murky’ ailment)http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/F/ FIBROMYALGIA_DRUG_COMPANIES?SITE=TXBEA&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

NFA's Response to Article http://www.fmaware.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=8481

May God heal your body and soul.
May your pain cease,
May your strength increase,
May your fears be released,
May blessings, love, and joy surround you.

This ismy opinion and mine alone..Drug companies ARE using people with Fibromyalgia diagnosis for their own money making benefits..If a new study was done on Cymbalta and Lyrica just using members of this support group alone , who have used these two drugs for any length of time, have had LITTLE to NO pain relief at all. Most of the people that have been on these two have ALSO been on other pain meds at the same time......If the FDA approves a NEW drug for us, then our Doctors put us on it with the guarentee that it is "THE NEW MIRACLE DRUG" that is going to cure us. So, who is most at fault??? Drug companies. FDA, or our Doctors????

Murky, the only thing murky about this ailment is our brains.Laughing I'm glad to see that the NFA is speaking out about this. There are other ways to prove that drug companies are more interested in profit than helping people without attacking the credibility of millions of people. If there were only a few people with our problems I could better understand them calling it "murky", but there are millions of us. How can millions of people have an illness that's not real? I agree that the drug companies push these meds simply for profit, but they do help some people. These ignorant journalists just need to go pick on someone else. We don't need it.

I had also read the response by the NFA and if my brain was not so "murky" I probably would have thought to share. lol I am so glad you are not as foggy as I am tsage.

I agree with and love their response, but I do agree the drug companies see us as money makers. I think the drug companies see every illness like that. Fibromyalgia is certainly not singled out by them. Unless you have DVR you can't get through 1/2 an hour of TV without seeing a drug commercial or 2 or 3 or all of them. lol I have experienced a positive response within my own family from fibro commercials suddenly making it a real condition in there eyes. The first one with the come and go bruising got a good response for me from my extended family. Suddenly everyone wanted to know if I had heard of fibro. These were the same people that for years did not believe I was sick. Ever since I told them my reaction to Lyrica they have been much more sympathetic and understanding. While I do not agree with the drug companies methods I do believe we can benefit from the attention.

Favorite Poem :
It is such a relief when you first find out.
That the pain really does have a name,
And then you will ask (and everyone does),
"Just where can i place all the blame".
No matter the limits, no matter the pain,
There's no evil, cruel "Master Plan".
It just simply happens, It just simply is.
You adapt, and you change what you can.
But even with the knowing the best and the worst,
All the pitfalls the future could hold,
You still have a choice, you quit or you fight.
You determine the story that's told.
And every small step that we take, my dear friends,
Each battle that we slowly win,
Just credits the love and the caring we share
With the FMily that we call our friends.
