  "Emotional Abuse Survivor" (sirensong)

MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

I have had a thought. Being that this forum is the only place for most of us to have contact with eachother. I know that for me, I have made some good friends here. It bothers me that if one of you were hurt, or worse no one would ever know.

What I am proposing, is that each member that is interested, find a buddy.

That person will have your contact information, such as a phone number, address or whatever, so that your family members can contact this person in case of an emergency situation. That way, the group can be notified. I know it sounds kinda weird, but think about if one of your friends here just quit coming, and you never knew why...

Again, this is up to each of you individually. If you do decide to get a buddy..just don't forget to let your family members know to contact your buddy if necessary. And buddies, if you get a call (hopefully none of you ever will) but if you do...you have to let the group know what is going on. That is all there is to it..

You don't have to post, but if you will bump this up once in awhile so everyone can see it, I would appreciate it.. HUGS

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

I agree with both of you! It would be a good idea, but it is a little difficult for "newbies"to choose a buddy. I agree too that we should bump this up so that everyone gets a chance to read it and you get more feedback. Geri

I agree. I've been on the receiving end of someone who just stopped posting on forums and I never knew what happened to them. I think it's an excellent idea!
