MDJunction to me

nvrsubtle"Not having any local Bipolar support groups where I live, MDJuntion has given me a place in which people understand what I am going through and has given me a new outlook on life with support that is real and good. Without
the support that I receive from MDJunction, I would be wandering through
life with no one who understands me. I owe so much to MDJunction for giving
me a life line to help get me through the toughest times.

Hello all,

I am starting back to work tomorrow; very part time- two days a week. I'm extremely nervous but also excited to get some normalcy back into my life. I think it will help me get outside my own head and think about the rest of the world for a change. It will be a big test for me, but I think I can do it! I read back your earlier posts about ideas of what to say to folks when they ask " How ya feeling?" and " what happened to you? " they all know I was in a bad car accident an haven't been there for almost a year, but that's it.

I'm a pretty private person when it comes to work. I like to keep my life separate from my job, so this is going to be difficult for me. My therapist suggested making copies of what I want to say to people when they ask and just hand it them, but that seems kind of goofy to me.

If anyone has any other suggestions I would really appreciate those and any pep talk. ok, I'll admit it! I'm scared to death of: failing bc I can't keep up and facing all those folks with questions. I know they care but it's still hard. I don't want to give them false info. Plus, I look perfectly fine on the outside.

Thanks everyone.

Ermm

Remember you dont have to share anything with anyone... you can gracefully say things like I had and accident.. i am feeling ok... and i am so glad to be back with all of you and be done with it.... management ae the only ones on the need to know basis and even then you dont have to tell them everything unless you feel it necessary and approipriate... Be kind to yourself.... 2 days will wipe you out at first.... do not add more days til you can succesfully make it thru 2 days.. remember you ae in control of your life....this is YOUR life... I am excited for you... this week ... get help with dinners and lunches and laundry and whatever else needs doing.... rest and relax when you can... and good for you! hugs! ogod Luck!

Adewyn- thanks, you are right! My medical condition is really no ones business. If I keep the response simple and stress the positive about being happy about being back to work, maybe they will get it. however I work with some very pushy, nosy ladies and I KNOW they are going to try and grill me, just so they have something to talk about later!! I can see it play it out in my head! They will do it in a subtle ( nice) way, with other motives in mind.... " let's see how really hurt she was"

It goes back to that stupid mentality that I ran into when I first had my accident. All the crazy little comments thrown at me like, " oh, I've been in several car accidents and I just forced myself back to work and dealt with it"

The only thing that i broke were two of my teeth and chipped a cap. The rest is a locked, spasmy spine, Myofascial pain and fibro. Which has made my life a complete hell, as I know you and everyone else knows all too well!

My hubby says I worry too much about what other people think. Its just going to exhaust me....but I have to get out of my own head and justfo it!

Thanks again!

Julzy,

I wanted to tell you that I will say a prayer for you tomorrow that everything goes well for you.

You don't have to tell anyone anything that you are not comfortable with telling.

You CAN do this and please let us know how it goes.

Hold your head up high and have faith in yourself.

1 moment at a time....I know you will be okay! Wink

As far as the nosy ladies who are just fishing for info to gossip about later...just remember how bored and unhappy they must be to take any type of joy in gossiping about another persons pain. I'd just blow them off and not divulge any info...if they press, just say you really need to get back to work! No one can say crap about that!
I am not a doctor but I play one on TV
