I have just been diagnosed with myofascial pain and fibromyalgia. I was wondering if anyone else experiences burning pain in the ribcage and breastbone. My pain is sensitive to the touch and hurts in the back of my ribcage, on the sides, and under my breats. I was wondering if anyone else experiences this pain.

I have that. I found that it caused me to breathe really shallow. Then at night I would stop breathing in my sleep. Now I have a CPAP machine and it doesnt hurt as much. I wish I could tellyou what else to try besides a moist heating pad. Nothing else has ever help me with it sorry.

i do.. and it is no fun at all... the worse is when you are in public and get that sharp pain and you grab your check and people think you are having a heart attach.

Welcome mcclure & ktangel

Your not alone, I have that also. My ribcage kills me, it's so hard to try and turn & get out of bed.

You can't touch me in those spots either. I also get the sharp jab there than it shoots out at another location,

like my thigh, pelvis, foot, etc..

I feel like a piece of meatAngry Like when you poke it with the fork all over the place to marinade itSad

My husband is such a great cook, he already marinated the meat last nite & it's in the crock pot & ready to go, all I have to do is remember to turn it on at 10:00.

He has to work overtime again today, I'll miss him but it pays the billsSmile

So anyway, maybe I won't get forked today & hopefully none of you will get jabbed either!

I don't have trouble breathing with the pain, it just hurts when I touch any part of my ribcage. It almost feels as though it is bruised and it is a burning pain. It is torture to wear a bra or any tight clothing because it just aggravates the pain and makes it worse. I have heard that people get a chest pain like you are having a heart attack. I am sorry to hear that some of you have that feeling. It must be so hard not to worry! I worry everytime I feel a new pain in a different area. I started Lyrica two nights ago and I hope it helps.

mcclure,

I hope you don't mind me abbreviating, I think you find the Lyrica helpful.

It wont be a cure all, but it will help.

How about a muscle relaxer also, has your doctor mentioned that at all.

While you mention the Bra, I think I'm going to go online & order some & get a bigger size so it will fit looser. I don't want it to loose though or they will DROP TO THE FLOOR!

Bras hurt big time. I use a muscle relaxant and neurontin and a nsaid. It is just a tough spot to get deactivated,

I've felt like I was having a heart attack and it is scary. I'm only 40 years old. I have a book called "The trigger Point Therapy Workbook'" by Clair Davies, NCTMB It shows how to release the trigger points with massage. It is very painful but it helps. You can use tennis balls or special balls made for massage.

I've pretty much stopped wearing bras, it aint pretty but it sure feels betterWink

There is a light at the end of the tunnel -- but it's a train about to run over you. ;)

I also hate to wear a bra. It hurts so much that when I am at home I don't even wear one. No way would I be able to go out in public without one. Those little (well bigLaughing ) puppies aren't as perky as they were 30-40 years ago. I laughed libro what you said about ordering bigger bras. I am always totally amazed when I read these forums and find out the different pain areas we all have. I never would have associated bra pain with Fibro until I read it here.

Goddess bras are the only thing I wear, I can't really find any with my cup size in stores that fit right. You have to order them online, I'm going to check out some new ones.

There used to be a Botique (sp) a couple miles from my house, but darn't she closed a couple years ago. She even sold sex toys in the back - Gosh I could really use them now!
