I'm hurting pretty badly from fibromyalgia today from working out in the yard yesterday but my main problem over the last few weeks has been extreme depression. I'm very lonely but so very tired and it feel impossible to feel optimistic at all about anything. I've got four people (my kids living with me ages 19 to 25) but they sure don't understand my situation to talk to. I'm on prozac but don't feel like it works anymore and I have no health insurance so I can't just run to the dr.

I also find this site a little confusing to navigate==maybe because I've never been in a chat room. Don't even know if typing this message will do any good.

Littleles, Yes we do have fun and mess with each other with love. Join in if you have a question there will be a suggestion from someone on here. You will be surprise how acting silly will relieve some of that depression. Welcome to the group. One day at a time. Yard work is a hard on the body trying to do it all in one day. Can the kids not help, they are old enough.

Oh another thing there is wonderful folks on this site. We have the most understanding GL's and members. So just post what you need to get off your chest. You can also PM anyone. The GL's with response if you don't want to put it on a thread. We understand, over half of us has gone through.Smile

Hi Littleles...I deal with depression as well..I guess a lot of us do. I take Citalapram, it is a generic of Celexa and only costs $4 at Wallyworld. Plus, my docs office approved me for 60% off my bills to come in...it's still alot of money but I can at least go see him and make payments on the 40% I owe
I am not a doctor but I play one on TV

Littleles,

We are so glad that you found us, and yet sorry that you have discovered fibro. Like you have been told, we are here to help, as well as support, and even to make you laugh once in awhile! We can all relate to what you are going through....the depression usually comes and goes. I have been sucked into one for quite a while now, and am just trying to dig out of it. I urge you to come on here and post and read others' posts, I promise it will make you feel better, even just to know that there are others out there that truly understand. HUGS

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Hey and welcome, Littleles. I, too, battle depression with fibro. I've found that I have to change up my antidepressants every few years, b/c I think our bodies become used to it and it doesn't continue to work as well. Surely there's some program for you, since you don't have insurance. Call and ask your doctor. Also as someone already said, the older antidepressants are pretty cheap.

I hope you're able to work out something with your doctor. There's got to be help out there for you.

Keep us posted, ok? Liz

Thanks to everyone who replied and welcomed me. I'm going to ask my dr. to change my antidepressant next time I go in. Been achy and so tired and I attribute some of it to pushing myself and the weather got colder again. Just wish my kids would understand and help out more. Also feel guilty and frustrated because I used to be able to do so much more. I used to run a child care center in my home with an average of 5 kids plus my 3 and had so much energy. Now at age 50 I feel so old and am actually jealous of women around my age that can still work and "do it all" without any effort. My dad will be 81 years old in July and I can't even imagine living that long, let alone how I'll feel in the next ten years!
