I would like to know how many women here have gone through pg and fibro together. I just found out I'm pg (vry early, prob 4/5wks is what I can figure) and my legs are bothering me more than they have in months already. I've already had 3dys of pretty much sleeping before finding out I'm pg, and now I'm starting to worry about having Fibro and being pg and about meds, etc. B/c I really don't want to go off my pain medication. I finally found something that works well for me most the time and I don't want to go off things and have my body be in that pain and stress when I'm already pg, you know? I'm worried that alone might cause a m/c since I believe physical stress can really affect you and if you're in pain that really affects your body. I would have a really miserable pg if I didn't have my meds, I remember how it was without them and all I can think is 'No, don't want to go there again, it was Hell' I know how important the first month is, etc. but what I'm taking has never been proven to have a tetrogonic effect anyway and I Know there are women who have gone through pg with pain meds, that haven't been able to function without.

I already have to worry about getting through the first 13wks.....I don't feel like I need to deal with that horrible pain without any meds. I get no relief from nsaids anyway and just wanted to know if there's any women here who have done this?? This is new territory for me and as my son is 4 and I didn't have fibro then I really have nothing to go on.....

I have gone through 3 pregnances. I actually felt better while I was pregnant. I took extra good care of myself and took lots of vitamins. During my first two I didn't take ANYTHING but during the third I did take meds that were "safe"and I was on bed rest dur to High blood pressure. I think having fibro befefor the children are born is easier because mom doesn't suddenly become a different person. My kids have only known me as some one who has fibro. All the pregnancy trials are well worth it when you first hold your baby.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel -- but it's a train about to run over you.

I went through my pregnancy before I was diagnosed with fibro. actually the symptoms appeared shortly before pregnancy. my OBGYN wouldn't do anything for me. I didn't know what I had, but I knew something was wrong. the dr just thought I was a hypochondriac and basically ignored everything I said. I hope your pregnancy goes well. good luck to both you and your baby!!!

Thanks for the well-wishes. I really think I know my body and know what I can take personally. I think I'll find a midwife....so much easier!!

I believe that my first pregnancy and the traumatic, difficult labor is what triggered my fibro since it started shortly after my first son was born. When I came home from the hospital I ached all over as I never had before, especially my spine and back, and it never went away or got better. Then my sleep was disrupted with a colicky baby and that made everything so much worse. Over the years I've gotten progressively worse as far as the pain being more widespread and the fatigue, but I definitely belive that hormones have some effect on fibro. I had my first child 12 years ago, but the fibro wasn't diagnosed until about 3 years after that, after the birth of my second son. I was just thinking this morning, when was the last time in my life I got out of bed in the morning without being stiff and every muscle aching...and when was the last time I got a full night's sleep without waking up several times? I can't remember....but then, with fibro I can't remember LOTS of things!! It seems I've felt this way for so long now that I forget what it was like to feel "normal."

For me, THIS is normal!
