Does anyone have tenderness on their entire spine? Like if i put pressure on any area of my spine it hurts pretty bad. Also, even though they have 18 tender points, does anyone have way more than that?

Have you seen a Rheumatologist? Are you under the care of a Dr. now?

Just wondering. Blink

I have way more more the designated 18. They are all over my body. And oddly enough, I think I am missing a couple of the designated 18 but you only need 11 of the 18 to have Fibro.

My entire spine hurts, one side more than the other. I think it is the actual muscles running along the one side that hurts. And it feels like all the cartilage between each disc hurts, like the cartilage hurts on my rib cage.

Yes I have a doctor, and I am planning on seeing a rheumatologist. I know that a rhematologist is better in accurately diagnosing fibro, but my doctor found 11 tender points. I know doctors aren't trained to find them, but my tender points to match up with the chart.

I agree that I think there are really more than 18. I have 16 of the 18, but like you said, there are more. My back is very tender, I can't take hardly any pressure on it at all. Good luck finding a good rheumy. Make sure when you make the appt that he both believes in and treats fibro before you go.. HUGS
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

younghopeful,

I have all 18 tender points. If they would have had 50 I would have had all 50. I get the rib pain too and the muscle spasms in my torso and ribcage all the time. If you have muscle relaxers that will help you. If you don't ask your Doctor if he or she will prescribe them to you. The pain never stops. My back is constantly hurting me all the time. It is just to what degree the pain is all over the body at that given moment. Fibro sucks! I don't know how else to say it. Just try to take life 1 moment at a time and post here and vent. It helps and we all understand how you feel. You are not alone. Welcome! Smile

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. I think it is rediculous that there are still doctors that don't believe fibro is real. I have been doing research and plan on doing a paper on it for school. They have done studies that show people with fibro have abnormalities of blood flow in the brain. I believe they would rather not believe it is real than admit they don't know much about it.

I think that all the Doctors that don't think that Fibromyalgia is "real" should live with the pain that we have for about a year and then they can tell us if they think it is real or not! Devil Wink

I have the tenderness in my spine too. The worst pain on the upper spine/ neck. I'm going through a rough patch and my pain meds just are not cutting it. I just need to make it till next Wednesday when I have an appointment with my pain management Doc.

Younghopeful, I think you have a great outlook on this condition. I think it is awesome you plan to do a research paper. We must never give up hope of finding a cure or at the least, reprieve from the pain.

I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.
