MDJunction to me

neshama48"Having Crohn's Disease for over 26 years, in the first few years, it lonely and isolating.
Though now my disease is in a near perfect remission, my friends and family are sympathetic to me, but I can not talk to them about this disease. When I stumbled across MD Junction, and met others who had the same disease I was not alone in battling the disease. MD Junction is like a second family, without the judgement or guilt of having Crohn's Disease, but they do give you love and support.

From time to time we do these tips threads. I've started yet another one for all the new folks! If you have any tips, please list the area followed by the tip. You'll see what I mean.

Laundry: Get a divided bin. Pre-sorting your clothing as you change or shower saves you from having to expend so much energy sorting. Place a basket under your bathroom/kitchen sink for towels.

Kitchen cleaning: Keep things closest to where you use them. For example, keep the dishes in the cabinet above the dishwasher or sink. Less time and effort walking back and forth!

Grocery shopping: Consider home delivery if it's avaliable in your area. If not, sites like amazon.com and others have bulk food items that can be shipped to your home.

Clutter: If you haven't used it or worn it in a year, you probably won't. If you can, donate the items. It clears the clutter and gives you less to clean.

General: consider using a timer. Set for 10 or 15 minutes per task and stop when it dings. If needed, after resting, reset and finish. Breaking tasks down not only save energy and keep you from getting overly fatigued, on some jobs they can save your sanity! Closets anyone?

Love it, Hatbox!

I finally broke down and bought a Swiffer to clean my floors with. I was always a hands/knees scrubber, but that is impossible now. I tried the bucket/mop deal, but that was so much work. So now with my swiffer, I can clean the floor with little effort. I would suggest them highly!!

Magic erasers are really magic. I have a serated bottom in both my tub and shower. It is so hard to clean them, and I used to spend hours trying to get that clean. A magic eraser will clean it with ease, saving a whole lot of elbow grease. It also works well for cleaning stains off countertops and the rough refridgerator surface.

I know this sounds like a commercial, but really these products have really helped me a lot. Makes chores go a lot quicker and without so much effort. HUGS

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

I use the year logic myself it helps alot, okay several things I due,I got a dust droom it helps alot,I got rid of all my wat nots love them but dont need the dust,as for the kitchen I have nothing in my bottom cabinets I dont bend any more,it makes a big diffrence, also gadgets, you can find them in thrift stores or other type stores if your like me and broke I shop there, but things like a food proscesser so you dont have to chop, exspecially us in the south who have gardens,I have lighter pans, electric can opener, lid rubber opener(or the kids, lol)

Bathroom has always been my pet peev.but I cant get in there and clean the tub,so I spray it down every night with scubbing bubbles,I use tolite hangers for exstra help cleaning, also I keep lysol wipes in there in case of company I use the bathroom and wipe down it all,

laundry ahh, everyone in my house now has their own laundry basket, when its full it gets washed..and personaly I dont care to seprerate anymore, lol

Label EVERYTHING. Drawers, closets, etc. Label as to contents so you won't be scrabbling around looking for things.

Bathtub: Use a foam cleaner, spray thoroughly a couple of times, use a LONG-handled scrubber. You can sit on the toilet with a long-handled scrubber.

Don't get frustrated if you can't do chores one day. That's the neat thing about chores--they'll be there for when you feel up to them.

Put vinegar in your washer when you run a load of towels to get them and the washer itself clean. Put salt in with your clothes and sheets to soften them a LOT!!! (Oh, yes, use detergent, too, but you don't have to use as much with the towels when you add vinegar.)

Hire teens in the neighborhood to do those incidental tasks like moving heavy things or shovelling snow.

Get rid of stuff you don't use. You will never get around to using or fixing it...

Thanks, I love the Magic erasers and Lysol wipes. It's pretty easy here with hubby and me, I also do the cloths basket thing. No shoes in the house so that really help with not having to vacuum often. Although most have self cleaning stoves, still lay a piece of foil or drip pan in oven and cover the drip pans on the top. I wish the made paper pots and pans. lol I use the vacuum extension to clean the ceiling fans and corner of the wall. It is also good if you have that popcorn ceiling (which I hate).

I live with 6 dogs and 6 cats. The cats are easy except for the litter box which is murder to clean...I always think about just dumping it instead of cleaning but the litter is too expensive to dump everyday. The dogs are another story, 2 pups who aren't house broken yet and love to chew up everything they get thier little mouths on. Ihave been flaring for the last 5 days so you can imagine my house is a complete wreck. The thoughtof getting it all clean again is overwhelming! The 15 minute timer idea is perfect for me...thanks so much!!!
