Hi Cathy! I have never had a break lasting for more than a day. I heard from my reumatologist that you can go into remission and may be fine for a few days, months or years and then it can come right back and attack all over again. I'd even be happy if this went away and left me alone for even a month. But I know I'd still have the anxiety because I would wake of everyday wondering if it would come back.

I've actually had a good day today. So I'm praying super hard that tomorrow is as good as today. But I know that it sure sneaks up on me when I least expect it.

I've had 3 good days in a row after a terrible month which started just after Christmas. I'm afraid to get too excited or hopeful though because I never know what is around the corner. I enjoyed the 3 good days but then I started looking at my messy, dirty house and mounds of dirty laundry that I couldn't get to when I was down in bed the last two weeks and it was sooo depressing! I get tired and achy just thinking about taking on that mess! Then I will probably try to do it all at once and trigger a flare, that is my pattern. You'd think I'd have learned by now?! lol.

does anyone else feel guilty for "playing" and goofing off, just enjoying your pain free days doing something you enjoy? I always feel guilty because I am so far behind on housework and everything else, but on the other hand I hate to have to spend my few really good days doing cleaning and laundry. I wish I could afford a housekeeper! Perhaps they have them on Fibro Island....sigh...

Hipmama I am with you on that. Do you have a supportive family. If my family would have all pitched in to help, alot of the breakup could have been avoided. Also i think guilt=stress which will trigger another flare. That's what I have learned since I have been gone and live in this small apartment with no animals and is easy to keep clean. I don't cook anymore, and laundry for me and Kristin is very light. But I would rather have had my family all together, and could have if everyone would have taken this seriously and instead of gettin mad because it wasn't done,ak what can I do to help. With four us there it would have been done in a snap and everyone would've been happy. But as they say hindsight is 20/20. But if my story can help one of you to learn ways of making family understand and be supportive and helpful instead of stressful, then at least something positive came out of. Talk to them, have a family meeting, make the changes and be firm. Get everyone involed, and remember if anyone in your house had the flu or a sprained ankle you wouldnt expect them to do anything but heal, don't you deserve the same? Take care of you.....

I too have heard it can go into remission for a day, two, week, month, or whatever. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone that has been lucky enough to have more than part of a week without some sort of pain.

We learn to adapt to our bodies. We learn to be aware of our limits. That's all you can do. I was recently reminded... we need to enjoy our day of no pain, cause it could hit us tomorrow. And it won't matter if we overdo or not. It's coming back.

Take care of yourself. And don't feel guilty for taking care of you!

I went for a long time w/o a flare. When it came back it hit real hard. A massive muscle spasm that waited five years to go away. I was bedridden for 5 yrs straight. Every since I have had moderate to severe pain. No more days with little pain. They are gone. Now I have more things wrong with me so I just have to deal with it.
I have dystonia, neuropathy, gerd, arthritis, and fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel and other ailments. I enjoy embroidery, music, and reading my Bible and Christian books. I love to bake. I try to be very supportive and positive.

I'm thinking{ha} that if only we could all meet and go to some island-fibro island i'll call it, and if there was only stress free days of meditation, and relaxation, and group therapy, etc. if a lot of our pain would go into remission. I think someone should do a study and it should be financed. Im convinced this is stress related and none of us can go without it. Doesn't this sound like a good idea???

I wonder though...is it really 'remission' or just 'good days'. Has anyone researched this at all?? I'm really curious!! Maybe I'll ask my hubby to look it up today while he's doing NOTHING on his computer like normal!! LOL

He's soo sweet...I'll let ya know what he comes up with and hey...if anyone knows the answer...I'd love to hear it!!!
