Well my name is Alicia and I'm 38 years old. I just learned I have fibro. I do belive I had it for awhile. At first I thought it was just me being out of shape, so I didn't really do anything at first but it wasn't getting better. I would tell the doctors how I was feeling and just seemed to brush it off. I finally went in November and told him I'm in so much discomfort and I feel like I'm a 70 year old person. He finally said you might have fibro.

So I went to a speicalist in Jan and she confirmed that is was fibro. Anyways I'm not really taking anything just Amitripthyline to help me sleep at night. Was feeling pretty good for a little bit but now I'm right back where I was. I go back in March again. So I will see what she says.

My husband has been real helpful now that he's read about it and understands. By the time I get home take care of my 2 dogs and 2 cats and make dinner I'm beat.

Hope to learn alot from this group. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Alicia

Welcome, Alicia!! You've come to a good place to share experiences and ideas to make your life more livable. Glad to have you on board.

When I was initially diagnosed (in the mid 90's) I was put on amitriptyline for sleep and flexeril for muscle pain. My tolerance for both meds was really high, so they kept raising the dosages to get an effect. It wasn't until about 3 years ago that a new doctor (dumped the old one because all he did was keep throwing more meds at me) said that if I need to sleep, prescribe sleep meds. And Cymbalta was prescribed for fibro pains.

Hallelujah!!! Most of my pain is managed and I sleep like a baby!!

I agree. Cymbalta has made a big difference in the way I feel. I no longer keep a dull headache and the pain is tolerable. The pain is not gone but it is at a more tolerable level.

Hello, Alicia,

Welcome to our group ~~~~ We are happy to have you join us !!!

The only prescribed medication I take for Fibro is Lyrica (2 75mg) at bedtime each night. I may not have the degree of pain that most here do but mine is all over and your description of day sounds much like mine. Sometimes, I can t even fix dinner and clean up after and sometimes I m hurting too much to even make the effort to go out to eat.

You ll love this group and make many new caring friends.

I look forward to getting to know you better .

Marilyn

mine got way out of hand by a virus in September I could have had it longer but I guess it decide to rear its ugly head then and i have seen every specialist under the son before they decided it was fibro..

just do what you can and that is all you can do.. I am learning my limits slowly... and for on the go person it is tough to realize when enough is enough...

Hugs welcome to the group we will get thru this together Smile HUGS

Alisha, welcome to the group. I know what you mean about feeling older. Several months ago, I went to physical therapy and the guy asked me if I was 38 or 83. I guess that was a real bad day.
