The results are in. I hve obstructive sleep apnea, severe, nocturnal hypoxemia. Inadequate sleep hygeien with evidence of chronic sleep deprivation.

I had a total of 142 respiratory events with apnea-hypopnea index of 50.

It says that sleep architecture was impaired with absent REM sleep.

Here's the kicker, my feet movements are not considered restless leg syndrome.

Now here's what makes me mad.

We talked about Dr's putting down wrong things in your records in another thread.

These people have never treated me yet they put down that I had a history of GERD and chronic allergies.

Where the heck they got that from I don't know.

I've never had GERD and I have vasomotor rhinitis.

One Dr did give me Nexium for what he thought was GERD which turned out to be a heart attack when I didn't believe him and sought treatment at the ER.

That is all. Dizzy

Well at least you finally got your results. I know GERD is basically the same as acid reflux. That would make me sooooo mad. I just don't understand how we are supposed to treat us and get us better when they can't even get there facts straight. URGH!!! I am sorry about the other stuff, but from what I understand from what you have said you were expecting those reults, right? Sorry
Favorite Poem :
It is such a relief when you first find out.
That the pain really does have a name,
And then you will ask (and everyone does),
"Just where can i place all the blame".
No matter the limits, no matter the pain,
There's no evil, cruel "Master Plan".
It just simply happens, It just simply is.
You adapt, and you change what you can.
But even with the knowing the best and the worst,
All the pitfalls the future could hold,
You still have a choice, you quit or you fight.
You determine the story that's told.
And every small step that we take, my dear friends,
Each battle that we slowly win,
Just credits the love and the caring we share
With the FMily that we call our friends.

Honest to God what is wrong with these people? Makes you wonder if they were looking at the right chart.

I am so glad you questioned that dr that dxed you with GERD. It just proves that we know ourselves better than any doctor and we have to educate them. Wish we got paid like they do!

I am sorry about your sleep results. It makes a lot of sense that you aren't getting restful sleep.

Did they address your leg issue other than saying it isn't RLS?

Love,
Casty

Oh my, Jan, just what you don t need ~~~~another malady to deal with. So, what s the next step ? Will you need to get a sleep machine ?

Isn t it crazy that dr. can list something on your chart that they never discussed with you or treated you for ?

Makes me glad I m nosy while sitting in the examining room ...Many times I pick up my file and glance thru it to see what is written in there .... : )

Are you getting this snow (again) tonight ? We are and very steadily ~~~~ can t wait to see what awaits me first thing in the morning ...NOT !!! LOL ...

Hi Auntie, Yeah the snow is coming down steady since before 5 tonight. The tv said we're to get about 6-8 inches but that's in Toledo. They always lie lol. We're on the Ft Wayne weather pattern. They want me to get a CPAP machine but I got a cool mist humidifier and I point it right at my face. Those things they had on me for the CPAP put me in panic mode. The cool mist humidifier is working just fine. They wouldn't let me tell them that I have always been a shallow breather even as a baby. Any time I'm in the hospital they always tell me that I'm a shallow breather and they turn the buzzers off on the machine that registers respiration.

Isn't the REM sleep where you get your dreams? I always dream and can even remember most of them or atleast remember having a dream before it fades out of memory.

Casty, nope never addressed the leg issue. maybe I have OCD of the feet? LOL . IKP I'm not surprised by any of the diagnoses that they give me anymore. It's just a few more that will go on my SSDI list.

Good to have some answers though, right? But it's so scary when they screw up your chart like that...like me being labeled "anorexic"...at least THAT was good for a laugh Smile

That's another reason why I'm reluctant to do the sleep study...I have really bad claustrophobia and I can't stand to have an oxygen mask on my face so I doubt I could live with a CPAP mask.

My sleep has been really messed up this last week, I'm more awake than asleep and grumpy....you don't even know how mean I can be. My head and nose are completely stuffed up, so I broke down and started using my Flonase again...and had the best night's sleep that I've had in ages. I don't think I have sleep apnea, I just snore so d*mned loud I was waking myself up constantly! So back to the Flonase & my doc recommended something that sounds suspiciously like KY Jelly for my nose...hm.

I understand completely Janilee I am the same way. I wonder if there is a spot in the guiness book of world records for the most diagnosis. I think you and I would be in the running. REM is dream state, so that is strange.

Rayne, I am with you on the mask. It scares me though because mt dad was the same way. He would pull the mask off in his sleep and had to take anti axiety meds just to get it on. He had other health issues but his official cause of death was sleep apnea. He was 71.

They just showed pictures of Ohio on our local news. Looks brutal. I am so sorry you guys have to deal with that. Snow is beautiful but enough is enough already. I am sure it is not helping your pain either.
