My 1st post.....My memory problem is beginning to now effect my daily living....before it was a hit & miss. Pretty much any and/or every sentence I use now...I forgot one part of it.....a name..word,place,number,item..you name...I forget it. I'm embarrassed by it ... and I've now begin to acquire a social phobia. I don't want to engage in conversation..because I know I'm going to forgot quit-a-bit of my thought or even a couple words.

I know through having had somes test that I have an oxygen problem....I'm trying out a CPAP machine right now...but without fail...when I wake up the mask is never on my face...and I dont know at what point in the night it came off.

Help...I'm Losing My Mind

Sad

nah your mind is where you left it..and you are not crazy though if we were it might make this better cause we wouldnt care..

first thing is are you on any meds that have this as a side effect? having brain fog is normal for us because your mind is spending all its time trying to figure out what is wrong and sending the soldiers to fix it,there are some tricks to help you one thing get your slf a timer for the kitchen..a timer is priceless for cooking or reminding you of other things that need to be done like when your dryer will be done..

as for the embarressment of it..your going to have to laugh at yourself and others who get the look like are you done with that thought..

now a huge rule of thumb..it is normal to forget where you parked your car it is fibro that makes us forget what color but something else if you cant remeber how to drive..

it is normal to call the wrong kids name it is fibro that makes us forget there name it is not normal to forget they are yours

we all have alot to give if one gets the help then some of this suffering is worth it..

remeber I am not a doctor I just say what I think

Hi Rainee!I too have those moments even during the middle of a sentence where I forget what I'm talking about. I know it's frustrating, but it makes me even more excited when I do get through a sentence, or finish a day with most of my tasks completed.

You aren't losing your mind, it's just more difficult to find sometimes. I liken fibro fog to me standing in the middle of a foggy dark field, and I can sometimes make out the lights, but other times I have no idea what they are or where to find them. This has helped me explain it to my family better. It always helps when people are understanding.

Welcome to the group. I think the memory thing is the most frustrating thing to be honest. I'm sorry that it's beginning to affect your social life though. I tend to plow right on through. Have you spoken to your dr about the CPAP mask coming off? I'm not sure, but surely there is something they can use to keep it in place. I'm sure this is a fairly common problem. Low oxygen can affect memory as well. It affects the hippocampus (area that deals with memory) particularly badly, so that could be the cause of the increase if forgetfulness.

I can start a sentence and forget half the words and the point of the sentence and never finish it. I go to the kitchen for a cup of coffee and forget the cup, go back to get it, get the coffee and leave the cup in the kitchen. Ohh my favorite(not) is when I call someone and forget who I called Blush . There's a whole page of funny and yes embarrassing things we've all done because we forgot. Don't worry about it you can come here anytime and we will listen and share with you. Hugs and Love

Now................what were we talking about???? Tongue
Carol

May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilites that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.....May you be content knowing you are a child of God.....Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of you.

I'm an Advocate

Hi all, I've been in and out of this group for ages. My time has been spent as a leader in depression. Recently I had an idea and suggested to Roy that we start a group for the baby boomers. As we are reaching retirement age (tho I've been retired on disability for years)things are changing. The Boomers are a whole new institition unto ourselves. Some days I work really hard to get over the fact that I am a senior citizen and when asked (forms, etc.) I put middle age. But that's a losing battle. So I thought I'd see how others feel. You can get there by clicking on this link:

Come check it out.

Happy new year to all!

NOTE: I can't imagine anyone is surprised that distracted driving has overtaken drunk driving as the number one cause of death on the road. Please, y'all, keep your eyes sharp when you drive. The guy in the next car could be on a computer in the dash board (whoever dreamed that up should have to watch autopsies), while the one behind you is texting. It's important to be aware of those around you. The kid who ended my second to last life was in a huge SUV and on the telephone.
