Hello. I am new to this forum, thank you for having me. I found out that I had fibro a year ago but can trace symptoms back to my teens (I am 31 now.) Recently, I have been dealing with a burning skin sensation on my face. My face does not look red, it just burns.

I went to my dermatologist and he said I have sensitive skin and a mild case of dermatitis and prescribed me a steroid cream. It helped some but the burning is still around. My skin just feels very sore like a sunburn. Does anyone else experience this? Sometimes I get it on my neck and arms and I can feel itchy as well. I would like to hear from others who experience this too.

Thank you so much!

I also want to add that I can't tell if the burning is coming from my skin or underneath. Does that make sense?

Following Dr. Paul St. Amand's "Guaifenesin Protocol" and getting better and better everyday. It takes a long time to reverse fibromyalgia but it's working for me!

If you want more info, just ask! (I am not here to promote it, just to offer and receive support).

peanutgirl,

Sorry that you have Fibro.

I get the burning feeling and the itchy feeling on my skin too.

Another lovely side effect from Fibromyalgia...LOL

Talk to your Doctor and or Pharmacist and ask if you can take a Benadryl.

It helps me but everyone is different.

Hang in there.

You are not alone. Wink

Also if you go to the top right and type something in the search bar there is information on burning skin and or itchy skin from Fibromyalgia.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Kissing

Hi PrincessButterfly,

Thank you for the welcome, I appreciate it.

I am sorry that you have fibro too, it is a tough illness to deal with. Do you get the burning on your face too or just your body? Yikes, it's painful!

I do take benadryl from time to time and it helps some.

Thank you again.

I recently posted about this. Well I actually posted about burning skin and a lot of people responded that they have this also. I noticed that when I took a liquid naproxen (or ibuprofen) it calmed it down. I have it on my face alone sometimes too. My face sometimes will be hot to the touch, but no fever, and the rest of my skin will be cool. But then again sometimes it's my whole body and I can't stand my clothes, especially a bra. Then I feel inflamed. That's what made me think to take an anti-inflammatory. I can't take them often because of ulcerative colitis.

Try the naproxen or the benadryl if one doesn't work the other one might. As always check with your doctor or pharmacist first to check for interactions.

Nice to meet you, you have found a great group and will finds lots of love, support and information here.

YES!! I get the burning and hot feeling on my face and cheeks and ears too.

I usually will take a Benadry and see what happens.

Sometimes a cool cloth can be soothing too.

It is all really trial and error. What works for 1 person may not work for the next person. It is a very frustrating condition.

What Fibro Meds are you currently taking? Unsure

Thanks PrincessButterly and Iam1shadylady for your replies. I have read some posts on this forum and everyone seems to be very kind and helpful.

My body and face burn when I overdo it and sometimes burn for no reason.

@Iam1shadylady.. my face will feel hot to the touch and burning sometimes too and other times, it feels sore and stinging but not hot. I never have a fever either. I totally know what you mean about not being able to stand your clothes, I get that too.

I put an icepack on my face and it seems to help calm it down. Ibprofen helps too.

I am on the Guaifenesin Protocol pioneered by Dr. St. Amand. I am sure people on here have discussed it. I am getting better, but it is taking some time. I do believe that one day I will be well again, it's just a hard and long process. I am not here to solicit it, and will not talk about it unless someone wants to know. I am here to discuss my symptoms and offer and receive support.

Thank you again.

Oh, I also take flexeril for my neck pain. I do not take any other meds. I have tried many and nothing really worked for me. I may start taking an antidepressant: desipramine to help me sleep but not sure yet. I suffer from wicked insomnia.

I too have super bad insomnia without my meds and sometimes with my meds. I have been an insomniac since age 12. I also have sleep apnea and it has progressed. I used to just have to use a C-pap on a lower setting but now I need a bi-pap with oxygen but for some reason my medicaid is not showing up with my medicare. I sleep with the Seroquil and Trazadone but I never rest. And I wake up every morning feeling like I've been hit by a Mack truck. I found out it's because my oxygen goes down to the low 80's and I stop breathing a lot. I can't remember how many times they said but it was a lot.

Just telling you that because if you have insomnia it is worth getting a sleep test. You can also find out if you have narcolepsy or restless leg syndrome or what I also have, restless limb syndrome.

I am aware of the Guaifenesin Protocol. It was around years back. Is it working at all for you? I used natural remedies for years and did very well with it but when the company I worked for went under and I lost the job I had I couldn't afford it anymore and then I ended up getting disability and now I really can't afford it. As far as the treatment I am on now and the natural supplements and vitamins I was on, the natural route was much better. I was also on Mona Vie which is really great stuff.

Anyway, nice talking to you. Hope to see you more.

Welcome to our group. I too have this going on. My most recent burning and irritating episode is now. Its been this way for a couple of weeks now. I also have Rosecea and that brings on dry skin. Flaking around my eye brows and hair line. So I am using olive oil on these areas. I try the Aveeno for Rosecea, various face soaps but still the same problem. My dermatologist has given me various creams with hyrocortizone in it, but still no end to this problem. ANd thats why I am now using the olive oil. Of course sparingly or else it can create a problem or who knows what. I am tired of trying so many meds and creams so now I am trying this natural remedy. And I take Aloevera from GNC pills 2 x a day. Perhaps this may help you.

AND YES, this is also part of Fibro. SIgh.........(

I just remembered another natural method, use a Humidifier. Winter months are the worst since we have our heater going on and that dries the air inside.

Take care.

Oroman,

Thanks for your message. I am sorry you have fibro and rosacea. I do not have rosacea but my face gets. Irritated. It burns and itches at times but does not turn red. Does your turn red? My dermatologist says I do not have rosacea just. Sensitive skin.

Thanks for the message

Oh yes my face turns red and I also get the pimples from time to time. Its so sensitive that I can't wear make up. I only wear lipstick and Aveeno cream.

I am pretty sure that my allergies are also part of my sensitivity issues.
